The Democrats got Robert Mueller to handle the Russia collusion allegations against Trump, and now Republicans want a special prosecutor to take a closer look at how the FBI handled the Hillary Clinton email probe.

The FBI and DOJ’s treatment of Hillary during the email probe differs dramatically from their treatment of Trump during his presidential campaign, insists Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC).

With the Russia investigation nearly over, it’s time Republicans got their chance.

“There’s more than smoking guns here. There’s overwhelming evidence that somebody outside the political system should look into,” said Graham, who on Thursday asked Congress for a special counsel to investigate “potential crimes” committed by the FBI and DOJ.

Graham’s suggestion follows the release of interview transcripts featuring former FBI agent Peter Strzok and his lover, former FBI lawyer Lisa Page. Both individuals played key roles in the email investigation and in launching the Russia probe.

According to the transcripts, Strzok and Page were determined to keep Trump out of office and were considering impeachment as soon as he won the election.

The DOJ must answer two questions, said Graham on Wednesday:

Did they stop the email probe because they wanted Hillary to win the election?

Did they launch the Russia investigation as insurance in case Trump won the election?

Graham, who chairs the Senate Judiciary Committee, wants testimonies from top DOJ officials. “We’re going to call them all before the committee,” he said, threatening to subpoena former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.

“Did they take the law in their own hands? Did they abuse the FISA warrant process because they had a political agenda? Did their hatred of Trump go so far that they abandoned their role of being law enforcement agents and become advocates for a political cause? We’re going to get to the bottom of that.”

Author’s Note: It seems pretty clear the FBI and DOJ were biased in favor of Hillary Clinton. And that’s an issue that needs sorting out much more than the Russia collusion allegations against Trump, which are known to be false.
