Masked Palestinian youth launched an attack on Jerusalem’s Temple Mount on what ia considered one of the holiest Jewish holidays of the year, The Tisha B’Av.
“Such acts of hatred cannot be tolerated and we will not allow any disturbances to prevent Jews from praying at this holy site,” Israeli President Reuven Rivlin said.
The Al Aqsa Mosque, also located on the Temple Mount’s compound, was used by the attackers to barricade themselves as they prepared for an attack on Jewish worshippers.
The Israeli police defended the holy grounds with stun grenades, locking the Palestinians in the Mosque. During the attack, Israeli police came into close range with the terrorists who attacked with rocks, wooden planks, fireworks, and Molotov cocktails.
“The Temple Mount is a holy place for Jews and Muslims,” Minister Miri Regev told reporters. “The government must make sure that Jews can go on the Temple Mount throughout the entire year, certainly on Tisha B’Av.”
