
<p>Believe it or not, Biden Administration officials are thinking about resuming border wall construction along the US-Mexico border. </p>



<p>“I think it’s great that they reversed themselves, but a lot of damage was done because we were gonna have that wall almost complete. You know, it delayed two and a half years because of lawsuits,” said former President Donald Trump. “If they agree that they’re going to complete it, that’s a great thing, that’s a very positive step.”</p>



<p>Even Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas &#8211; whose family fled to the US from Cuba in the 1960’s &#8211; has expressed the need to fortify the border. ;</p>



<p>“The president has communicated quite clearly his decision that the emergency that triggered the devotion of DOD funds to the construction of the border wall is ended,” said Mayorkas. “But that leaves room to make decisions as the administration, as part of the administration, in particular areas of the wall that need renovation, particular projects that need to be finished” including “gaps,” “gates,” and other areas “where the wall has been completed but the technology has not been implemented.” ;</p>



<p>Congressional authorization has already funded some projects, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki confirmed. But official border wall construction remains paused. ;</p>



<h4 class="wp-block-heading">President Biden&#8217;s policy decisions have attracted vast numbers of migrants, including thousands of unaccompanied minors. </h4>



<p>As I wrote in a previous article (<a href="https://punchingbagpost.com/biden-under-pressure-as-border-crisis-intensifies/">click here</a>), there were more apprehensions during the first 2 months of Biden&#8217;s presidency than during the entirely of 2020. Without adequate facilities, unaccompanied minors are being held in cells made for adults. In many cases, they are there far longer than the legal limit of 72 hours. ;</p>



<p>Now, Biden must decide whether to make good on his campaign promises to end border wall construction or swallow his pride and protect the nation from a flood of refugees. </p>



<p><strong>Author’s Note: </strong>It is unlikely the Biden Administration will work towards anything resembling Trump’s Border Wall. But it is promising (and hilarious) that they&#8217;re calling to fortify the border less than three months after opening it. ;</p>
