<p>During the Democratic debates Wednesday night, Beto O&#8217;Rourke was asked if he would do a &#8220;forced buyback&#8221; of certain &#8220;assault&#8221; weapons. He answered, &#8220;Hell, yes, we&#8217;re going to take your AR-15, your AK-47.&#8221;</p>
<p>Beto O&#8217;Rourke is a naive fool.</p>
<p>Can you imagine the police or other designated force going door to door attempting to confiscate these weapons from their legal owners?</p>
<p>Anyone familiar with the 2nd Amendment knows that its specific purpose is to forbid this kind of action. The mass confiscation of rifles is a blatant violation of the 2nd Amendment, the likes of which have never taken place in America before.</p>
<p>But this DID happen in 1930&#8217;s Germany.</p>
<p>Hitler&#8217;s enforcement group, the Brown&#8217;s went door to door in Germany taking weapons away from the Jews. Everyone knows the history of the years following, a helpless Jewish population was forced onto trains and into concentration camps where millions were exterminated.</p>
<p>I predict this will NOT happen in America. I predict that guns owners will organize and that they will refuse to relinquish their weapons.</p>
<p>I predict most sheriff&#8217;s departments will refuse (actively or passively) to go door to door and confiscate weapons of any kind. If ATF attempts to organize such a confiscation, gun owners will resist passively to the extent possible, testing the will of a hypothetical President O&#8217;Rourke to fulfill his promise.</p>
<p>How many Americans will have to die to get O&#8217;Rourkes will satisfied? But he is not smart enough to back down. In fact, the liberals may be thankful when these good Constitution-supporting Americans are dead.</p>
<p>Eventually, there would be bloodshed, brutality and massive organized resistance, all playing out across America and the world on television and social media.</p>
<p>This will polarize America to such a great degree that we will LITERALLY be engaged in a civil war. Barack Obama, the &#8220;us against them&#8221; community organizer, will have gotten his wish.</p>
<p>This is not a joke, this will be played out, not on social media, but in real life.</p>
<p>A civil war.</p>
<p>The founders wrote the Constitution in specific response to the tyranny of the British. They wanted to ensure that tyranny would not be possible in the new democracy/republic hybrid that they invented. Scholars agree that the purpose of the 2nd Amendment to <em><strong>make the government afraid of its citizens</strong></em>, that any attempts at tyranny would be met with the force of its well-armed citizenry.</p>

<p><strong>Author&#8217;s note:</strong> I am a gun owner, but not a hunter or firearm sportsman of any kind (not opposed to hunters or sportsmen, its just not me). My sole purpose for having a gun is self defense.</p>
<p>Then again, I&#8217;m tall, in good shape, I don&#8217;t take unnecessary risks, and I spent 12 years with the CIA. Its not like I have a problem with security. I have had a concealed carry permit for many years, but I have never actually carried a concealed weapon.</p>
<p>But after having seen the Obama years and how the government can force changes that are unreasonable and, indeed, unconstitutional, and how the highest office in the land can arrange to use government resources to harrass and attack its political opponents, not once, but many times, I take very seriously the 2nd Amendment&#8217;s call to keep our country safe from tyranny. Its this a potential civil war situation? Yes, I think it could be.</p>
<p>There was a time when I did not believe that a 2nd Amendment issue, or ANYTHING resembling a Constituional crisis would ever reach my doorstep.</p>
<p>Beto O&#8217;Rourke just brought it there.</p>
