Illegal Migrant Pleads Guilty to Brutal Murder in Case Brought to Light by Trump

On Monday, Sept 23, an illegal immigrant pleaded guilty to brutally killing his girlfriend and dumping her body on the side of a freeway in Michigan, in a case that President Donald Trump highlighted earlier this year.

Brandon Ortiz-Vite, 25, shot Ruby Garcia dead inside a car on the side of U.S.-131 in Grand Rapids in March after she told him she didn’t want to be with him anymore.

The Mexican national, whom ICE confirmed was in the US illegally, then dumped the 25-year-old’s body and fled. He handed himself over to police two days later in a phone call made from a nearby church. Ortiz-Vite pleaded guilty to four offenses, including second-degree murder. He will avoid a trial and will be sentenced on October 31.

The killing became a key example of the kind of violent migrant crime that Trump has repeatedly blamed on President Joe Biden and, by implication, his new rival VP Kamala Harris. During a visit to Grand Rapids in April, Trump said he hoped Garcia’s family would come to a rally he was holding in the area before telling the crowd that he had spoken to them.

“Ruby’s loved ones and community are left grieving for this incredible young woman,” Trump said after hearing of Ortiz-Vites’s guilty plea. “They said she had just this most contagious laughter and when she walked into a room, she lit up that room, and I’ve heard that from so many people. I spoke to some of her family.”

Garcia’s murder was one of several cases highlighted by Trump and the Republican Party as part of its claims that Biden had allowed illegal immigrants into the country who then went on to commit violent crimes.

Ortiz-Vite pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, carjacking, illegal carrying of a concealed weapon, and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Ortiz-Vite, who entered the country illegally as a child, was removed from the US by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on September 29, 2020, over a drunk-driving offense. He then illegally crossed back into the US, where he was allowed to commit this heinous act.

He is scheduled to be sentenced on Oct. 31, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. The prosecution team recommended 30 to 37 years in prison.

This guy will probably get 5 years or less with our corrupt judiciary that is now in place. Sad but true what our great country has become.

He should be culled from the Earth’s population. No sentence, no penalty, no deportation is sufficient to appropriately deal with him. There is no rehab for his ilk, no blaming of tough circumstances, parenting, lack of education. No excuses. Fertilizer as fate.

What difference would it be had the killer been a white man, 3rd generation US born, 30 something, out of jail on probation, and a registered Republican who was born, raised, educated, and voted regularly in Grand Rapids, Kent County, Michigan? I know Grand Rapids, MI and Trump does not. I mourn this obscene crime. It is a terrible, tragic act of violence no matter who the perpetrator is.
Our justice system should be allowed their full authority handling this case. That this individual is an illegal immigrant should not cause an injustice regardless.
Trump injecting himself into this case amounts to irresponsible use of political celebrity.
He is grandstanding for personal benefit. Manipulating tragic circumstances is never justified.
Crooks, mobsters. and undesirable characters use others crime to advance their own agenda.
Trump repeats a conspiracy theory that has been debunked. Illegal immigrants may have broken our country’s immigration laws while crossing the border. That is the only regulation immigrants by majority are guilty of. No evidence has established that Trump’s allegations have validity.
Drugs, money, guns, other contraband, and the criminal element has been crossing our southern border for generations and during presidential administrations since our war with Mexico.
Trump inflates the numbers crossing over and that countries are emptying jails mental asylums into America’s border region. There is no truth to his rally rants, particularly his shouting about immigration.
Realizing the Trump tribe is going to gang up my comment. The only response from me is, go ahead and prove Trump’s statements with undeniably rock solid fact.
