ICE Sweep of NYC’s Canal Street Nabs 9 Illegals With Violent Pasts
Despite the Democrat lead government shut down, ICE continues in its mission to combat dangerous illegals.
In a targeted sweep of New York’s Canal Street, ICE reports that it has arrested nine illegal aliens with long rap sheets that include robbery, domestic violence, assaulting law enforcement, counterfeiting, drug trafficking, and forgery.
According to a DHS press release, on Wednesday, Oct. 22, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) conducted a targeted, intelligence-driven enforcement operation on Canal Street in New York City, focused on criminal activity relating to selling counterfeit goods. Despite violent rioters who assaulted and obstructed law enforcement by blocking vehicles, nine criminal illegal aliens were arrested. Some of their rap sheets included robbery, domestic violence and assault.
Additionally, four violent rioters were arrested for assaulting law and enforcement, and another rioter was arrested for obstruction.
“ICE conducted a targeted, intelligence-driven enforcement operation on Canal Street in New York City, focused on criminal activity relating to selling counterfeit goods yesterday. ICE arrested nine illegal aliens with criminal histories including robbery, burglary domestic violence, assaulting law enforcement, counterfeiting, drug trafficking, drug possession, and forgery,” said Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin. “The majority of those arrested were released into the country by the Biden administration. Under President Trump and Secretary Noem, criminal illegal aliens are not welcome in the U.S.”
The raid came just hours after conservative social media influencer Savanah Hernandez posted from the unkempt block, calling the scene “the craziest thing I’ve ever seen.”
The strip of Chinatown has long been an eye-sore and haven for crime littered with illegal vendors, who pack the sidewalks with fake and stolen merchandise, blocking access to legitimate retailers and leaving trash strewn long the street.
“They take over the sidewalk,” one merchant said Wednesday. “People can’t pass. The vendors don’t care.
“We talk to them. They want to fight,” he added.
“It’s usually the new ones. I spoke to one of them. He said, ‘What’s your problem?’ I don’t fight them. I just leave.”
NYPD quality-of-life cops have repeatedly raided the vendors, only to have them flee and return later.
Despite the brazen peddlers who were cuffed and arrested for being in the country illegally and boasting disturbing rap sheets, the federal raid sparked heated protests in deep blue NYC.
Two violently hysterical protesters were charged by New York’s Finest, including Jennifer Hansen, a 34-year-old anarchist with six prior busts, including a June 7 arrest for allegedly kicking a cop. Police said Hansen was charged with disorderly conduct, obstructing governmental administration and disorderly conduct for allegedly blocking traffic and interfering with cops.
A 33-year-old demonstrator was also cited for disorderly conduct but was not identified.
Those arrested in the raid included five Senegalese migrants, including Muhammad Ndiaye, who entered the US on a tourist visa but was supposed to leave in 1995. Fellow Senegalese illegals were arrested, including Idy Sarr, who was the subject of a 2010 deportation order; Sergigne Diop, who was caught at the US border last year but released by the Biden administration; and Modou Mboup, who was part of a caravan that entered the US but was also released by the previous administration.
