Hunter gets his “get out of jail free card” from daddy

Hunter gets his “get out of jail free card” from daddy

The announcement that Papa Joe Biden has pardoned his son should come as no surprise – despite the senior Biden’s repeated claims that he would not issue a pardon for his son.

Many of the news personalities have been speculating on what changed the President’s mind.  Nothing changed his mind.  Joe Biden was lying when he said there would be no pardon.

From the time the legal cases started going badly for Hunter, the likelihood of a pardon was on the table.   I predicted the pardon in a past commentary without any doubt in my mind.  Whether Biden was entering into a second term or not, there should be no doubt that he has long planned to pardon his son.

Biden is a man who has spent more than 50 years relying on political calculations to determine his actions.  It was for political reasons that Biden lied repeatedly.  He knew he was lying—and so did Hunter, the Biden family and virtually everyone else.

Why wouldn’t he?

There is no downside in pardoning Hunter.  There will be some criticism, for sure.  But as an 81-year-old lame duck President, there is no political risk.  Biden could have pardoned Hunter last year – but then there was political risk in view of his running for reelection.

He will suffer some loss in reputation.  That is evident in the number of Democrats who are critical of the pardon – in principle and in the specific nature of it.

Although the pardon is a gross attack on the justice system – and an example of political privilege – one can be sympathetic and understanding.  After all, what father – if given the opportunity – would not have done the same?  If I were in the Biden situation, I would have done it.  But I would not have lied about it, and I would have issued the pardon much earlier despite the political risk.

AND, I would not have made it a blanket pardon for any and all federal crimes Hunter may have committed from 2014 to today.  The blanket amnesty — and the dates — reveal an important element in the pardon.  Papa Biden is going back to when he was Vice President and when Hunter was deeply enmeshed in very suspicious activities with Burisma Holdings, the Ukrainian energy company.  There are still open investigations concerning Hunter and the Biden family in Congress and in the Justice Department.

There are still lingering issues regarding the millions Hunter got from the Russians.  Some of that involved Joe Biden and his brother, James.  The issue of not registering as a foreign agent.  I would not be surprised if James would get a pardon in the final days of the administration – and even a constitutionally unsettled self-pardon for Papa Joe.

The timing of the pardon may be explained by the fact Hunter was to be sentenced on December 12 and December 15 for gun crimes and tax crimes respectively.  There was a possibility of jail time in the tax fraud case.  The pardon averts the round of very negative publicity that would have ensued – and issuing a pardon even more onerous.

In the opening paragraph of Biden’s statements announcing the pardon, he said, “Today, I signed a pardon for my son Hunter. From the day I took office, I said I would not interfere with the Justice Department’s decision-making, and I kept my word even as I have watched my son being selectively, and unfairly, prosecuted.”  (Emphasis added).

Biden again openly lies saying he kept his word about not interfering in DOJ decision-making, that claim as he is interfering in a major way.  Shutting down a case after jury verdicts have been rendered is about as significant interference imaginable.

Biden claims that he was concerned about a future Trump Department of Justice (DOJ) going after Hunter.  If that was his motive, why go all the way back to 2014 – two years before Trump took office?  And why a blanket pardon for any and all undiscovered crimes during that 10 year period.  It suggests that the Biden’s see some potential areas of legitimate prosecutorial interest – and wanted to cut them off.

Biden defended the original plea deal that would have allowed Biden to walk without any jail time or criminal record.  Biden described the deal as “fair” and “reasonable.”  In a rare move, the plea deal was thrown out by a federal judge for being outrageous.  In his statement, Biden contends that the plea deal was thrown out because of pressure from political opponents.   However, a further DOJ investigation subsequently resulted in the current charges and convictions.

It is also noteworthy that Hunter pleaded guilty to the tax evasion charges.  There is no issue of Hunter’s guilt – or that his was railroaded by an adversarial Justice Department.

In his statement, Biden referred to the cases as “selective prosecution,” as “an effort to break Hunter” and that “Hunter was treated differently.”  Biden said that the charges against Hunter came about only because “several of my political opponents in Congress instigate them to attack me.”

It was Biden’s own Justice Department, headed by Merrick Garland — the guy he appointed to the post — that brought the charges.   To suggest that it was prosecutorial misconduct due to the influence of Republicans is laughable.  (No, Biden did not use the term “prosecutorial misconduct” but he sure described it as such).

Biden’s claim that his DOJ was succumbing to pressures from political adversaries is prima facie nonsense.  It was a DOJ in hot pursuit of Trump and his supporters.  Despite those facts, Biden said that “No reasonable person who looks at the facts of Hunter’s cases can reach any other conclusion than Hunter was singled out only because he is my son – and that is wrong.”   Singled out by Biden’s own Justice Department?  Come on, man!

The more obvious truth is that Hunter is avoiding sentencing and any accountability for crimes he may have committed from 2014 to 2024 only BECAUSE he is the President’s son.

Biden’s accusations against the DOJ for carrying out a politically motivated case sounds a lot like Trump – and runs contrary to the Democrats’ assurances that the Department of Justice is quasi-independent and filled only with folks devoid of partisanship.  Accusing the DOJ of being influenced by politics destroys Democrat Pollyanna claims of political independence — and gives credence to Trump’s claims of politicization by the DOJ.

In the close to his statement, Biden made perhaps his most audacious statement.  He said, “For my entire career I have followed a simple principle: just tell the American people the truth.”  (I will pause as you regain your composure).  This from a guy who has a reputation as a master of malarky.

His statement went on to say: “Here’s the truth: I believe in the justice system, but as I have wrestled with this, I also believe raw politics has infected this process and it led to a miscarriage of justice – and once I made this decision this weekend, there was no sense in delaying it further. I hope Americans will understand why a father and a President would come to this decision.”  (Emphasis added).  Another jab at a politicized DOJ.  Trump could not have been more accusatory against Biden’s Justice Department.

I think we all understand why Biden came to his decision – from his stated reasons and the real reasons.  I just believe this commentary explains it more accurately and truthfully than Biden’s official statement.

Biden is just a failed president further damaging his credibility – and nobility — in the final days of his relevancy.

So, there ‘tis.

If Biden respected the justice system, as he claims, he could have given his son clemency – meaning any convictions stand, but there would be no jail time.   Of course, he could have shortened the coverage of the pardon.

That is why I knew with great certainty that Joe would issue the pardon no matter how many times he lied to the contrary.

Maybe he just learned from the master, Larry. Come on man, this is wrong and you have seen more wrong and yet, not a scintilla of comparison do you deem worth. And yes you say you forecasted it, no links of course, but what haven’t you forecasted in you cya-laced weaves of a screed?

And then you half the tome divining the mind of Biden and only you can do to anyone but, based on your on writings, no one can do to you.

This was wrong. You can, and you do, pretend you know Biden’s mind why, but I suggest, and just a guess, that in this mess he would be less stressed to address this unless he was not going to be President. Simple stated: maybe’s he just pissed off at getting the boot and then being cheated out of a Democratic win. At least, in his mind. Hey, at least he didn’t let every felon and crook that worked for him go free.

It is tis what it tis it and that’s all she wrote. Sorry, Charlie, on this one, you lose.

I agree totally with Larry. Much of what he said in his article is has also been said in many other articles, some by the Democrats. But, Frank who changed his name to Larry recently, chastised the real Larry for knowing what is on or in Biden’s mind, yet, FrankLarry does that all the time. Go back through past posts and see where and how he continuously charges what he (knows) is on other people’s minds. I have often wondered how Franklarry always knows what others think and what he says they think. How does one do that? Is he psychic? I wish I could do that. Except I follow realism and truth!

    PS.
I wonder how Biden, who doesn’t have the mental clarity to know which way to walk off a stage, gets lost in the Amazon, calls for a dead woman to come on stage, oh so much more too, can have the mental clarity to sign a blanket pardon for his son? Is he playing a game? Is he even real as far as being POTUS is concerned? So much food for thought here.

    Frank Larry? Color me confused.

As to “charges what he (knows) is on other people’s minds,” here I said: “And then you half the tome divining the mind of Biden and only you can do to anyone but, based on your on writings, no one can do to you” pretty much explaining where Horist divines Biden but decries anyone doing the same to Horist, based on his own texts.

Pretty much everything I attribute to the mind of Horist is documented, you have to show me where it isn’t.

And isn’t that basically called “discussion,” you know where someone says something, someone else responds either using other facts OR the original author’s own thoughts? Sometimes spot on, sometimes off base, but that’s where the original author can choose to discuss and refine. Conversation. Or the author can spew venom in name calling, charging, like you, that they “follow realism and truth” which I guess is shorthand for the other party being totally fucked up. Whatever.

I did like the Amazon thing and wonder when folks will move on. He’s old, he’s lame duck, you say demented, lack of mental clarity, and you continue to pounce on him for the most trivial of things. Come on, he walks off stage, the stage is replete with plants — it’s the fucking jungle. And instead of focusing on: ‘here’s the first President to visit the rainforest,” you choose another path. A path as overgrown as Biden’s stage right. Less than 60 days, get over it and move forward.

Like I said, he may have pulled the hammer on Hunter’s pardon just because he’s pissed and WTF. It’s not like he will ever be relevant again expect as your punching bag post. You know that Carter still lives, why not give him one last shot?

It did make me laugh. And it looks like it was done at Disney, cleanest jungle ever seen, almost manicured. But I, for one, am glad he’s enjoying his final days. Great public servant, lies far less than most, always will love the train-commute stories, and many of my ancestor’s hail from Scranton, I love it. It’s where half my family first started after Ellis.

Let’s stick to the facts and if you have an issue, like my reading the mind of Horist, try to be specific for best response and better conversations. Generalizations fall short in this regard. Horist loves it, but most of “us,” would rather a greater specificity and precision in our speech.

You didn’t say anything we ALL do not already know. But did you know that the entire Biden family is now going to be prosecuted for human trafficking, drug trafficking> There’s more, too. I bet you haven’t seen that yet or if you did, you might be ignoring it. You also added more t my statement when you added yours to slam me once again which you are getting famous for. Not nice. And yes, you have the right to your opinion as do all the rest of us. And I do not have to provide you with any of your demands of where the information comes from. Frank Danger .. You write “Pretty much everything I attribute to the mind of Horist is documented, you have to show me where it isn’t.” Have you had a mental breakdown, or just a bold face liar? In your obvious obsession about me, you invent virtually nothing but mischaracterizations, false assumptions and misrepresents ions of what I write, think or feel. And then you say it is all well documented. LMAO And your claim to be devoted to truth and facts is just dishonest. You engage in childish personal insult’s, sarcasm that you judge as cleaver and claim you never do such things. Not only do you create a straw man Larry Horist as a figment of your imagination, but you also create an imaginary Frank Stetson … Frank Danger .. and other imaginary pseudonyms.. Your writings are all the proof necessary to rebut you self-flattering assessment of yourself and your writings. And I still remain a better judge of who I am and what i think than you. Only an arrogant and obsessed old fool would think otherwise. (Hey Frank, this response should be worth at least a 2000 word rebuttal rant repeating, reiteration, restating your shop-warn talking points. I look forward to hearing from you … sort of.)

Do you have actual examples, Larry. Or just grandiose generalizations aimed to demean the person?

You once again call me a liar. Prove it. Like I proved your lie re: Republicans storming state capitols during the summer of 2020 leading up to the Republican seditious conspiracy at the Capitol, sent there by Trump. Haven’t been man enough to even admit it when you are caught in a mistake which seems to elevate your statement to a LIE.

Yeah, proof, baby, try it some time.

Pardon me, excuse me, pardon me, sorry for butting in on the back end forth y’all are involved in on Larry’s dime.
Y’all know that Biden-Harris administration’s wrapping up. In about 6 weeks their term will be another chapter in America’s colorful Presidential history. And, Oh Yes weren’t those the good ol’ days. Really, the country will look back on these past 4 years and remark that we were better off with Bidenonomics than when inflation’s hysterics have us suffering from Trump-conomical major recession.
In short order the news front will tell whether or not Super-Donald can fly faster than a Trump Air jet plane, or stop an NYC subway train dead on its tracks, or leap Trump Tower in s single bound. He makes Superman claims, but he can’t match Superman’s humility in accomplishments.
With the age of super colossal chaos ready to be let loose on America and the World what now is PBP Larry going to expound on and WOW his readers with when Biden and his family are off the White House’s center stage. And, Larry is left pondering the left for subject material. Citizen #1 DJ Trump enters front and center, on January 20 while commencing his dance number which he had auditioned at his rallies. Surely, he will be a big hit out there in Trump-land.
When the blush is off Trump’s coronation’s bloom government is returned to its pre-Biden days in the good old days of Trump and daily catastrophes . Then fresh opinion pieces from Washington’s new found drama should invigorate journalists who have the power of the English Language to edify their readers with knowledge.
What and who are Larry’s readers going to become educated about. Don’t tell me he will pick on the good ol’ Democrat party like always or the left as he prefers calling them? Attempting to be the serial attacker/terrorist wrecking crew going after your nemesis in politics doesn’t have the kick it had when Biden was President. Trump’s malarkey happens to be more current.
Larry, you could lend your sardonic wit and sly sense of humor to the coming Trump three ring circus extravaganza.
