HORIST: Stop politicizing psychopaths

The shooting at the Chabad Synagogue in Poway, California has triggered yet another round of totally offensive and inappropriate political accusations among Democrats and their press pals. Their narrative is that President Trump is responsible for a rise of domestic terrorism.

It is a false and shameful narrative based on another long-standing false and shameful narrative advanced by the propagandized elements of news media. They say that 19-year-old shooter was “encouraged,” “inspired,” and “given license” by Trump’s refusal to speak out against white supremacy, skinheads, neo-Nazis, the Ku Klux Klan and other hate groups.

In fact, Trump has spoken out against hate crimes of all sort on many occasions – specifically naming the neo-Nazis, KKK and white supremacist groups. It is just that the anti-Trump media refuses to air his comments that do not comport to their biased political narrative. That’s right. They are willfully deceiving the public – with malice aforethought, as the expression goes – by censoring Trump’s condemnatory comments.

As far as the claim that Trump is the motivation of these attacks, it is noteworthy that none of the psychopathic murderers indicated that Trump provoked their heinous acts. Insofar as they expressed political motivation or inspiration, it was usually the actions of other psychopaths. The Poway shooter claimed the attack on the Mosque in New Zealand as his trigger point. Others – including the man recently arrested, who planned a bombing at a white nationalist rally – were motivated by ties to ISIS. Shooters, like those in Parkland, Florida and at Sandy Hook in New Town, Connecticut were social misfits with obvious mental illness. Some psychiatrists believe that the notoriety shooters receive in the media motivates copy cats who seek infamous fame.

If Democrats and the left-wing media want to make a case about Coast Guard Lieutenant Christopher Paul Hasson for planning attacks on prominent Democrats and left-wing media personalities, they also need to look at James Hodgkinson, who shot and wounded Congressman Steve Scalise and others at a Republican practice session for the Congressional Baseball Game. Was he motivated by Bernie Sanders or Nancy Pelosi? Of course not.

Nowhere is this game of blaming Trump more evident than in the reporting – or more correctly, misreporting — on the events now known simply as “Charlottesville.” The left-wing media has myopically dwelled on one statement by Trump – in which he declared that there were “good people on both sides.”

In making that statement, Trump was not referring to the neo-Nazis or the hate groups participating in the event. He was talking about the many residents who wanted to show support for the maintaining of the Confederate statues – specifically, in this case, the Statue of General Robert E. Lee. Good people can have differing views of the appropriateness of such a monument.

After all, Democrats counterpoint to Republican Lincoln Day dinners is Jackson Day dinners – a tribute to a racist and brutal slave owner, and a proud killer of Native Americans. They honor Franklin Roosevelt, an avowed white supremacist, who sent Japanese Americans to concentration camps, and anti-Semite, who turned back a shipload of Jews seeking asylum from Adolph Hitler. They named a United States Senate office building after racist Democrat Senator Richard Russell, of Georgia.

To maintain the false narrative, the anti-Trump media persists in erroneously attributing the President’s comment to those in the crowd who were engaging in racist and antisemitic chants – or that miscreant who drove his car into the crowd. They then express outrage over their own mendacious interpretation of the comments. They refuse to accept the President’s clarification of their misinterpretation.

What they do not report is Trump’s specifically condemning comments directed at the KKK and new-Nazis BY NAME – and specifically in conjunction with the activities at Charlottesville. The elitist press has the videos of those statements – and his many other statements condemning hate groups – but like skilled propagandists, they simply refuse to air them.

In the aftermath of the Synagogue shooting in California, the left wing has gone off the rails in their attempts to link Trump directly to the shooting as a primary cause. They claim that his rhetoric – which they do not report accurately – is the cause of a rise in white supremacy and the attendant violence.

They now focus on white supremacists as the primary cause of terrorism in the United States. One panelist on MSNBC (of course) said we should ignore global terrorism and concentrate on the domestic terrorism of white supremacy because that is the primary problem in America.

Apparently, she is not familiar with San Bernardino, Fort Hood, the Pulse, the Boston Marathon and other acts of violent terrorism carried out by Muslim extremists. She apparently is clueless about the shooter at Virginia Tech, Parkland, Sandy Hook, Columbine and other places that were NOT motivated by politics or religion.

When it came to Islamic terrorism in American, the left often disconnected it from the international movement by saying they were “lone wolves.” Suddenly, they see racists shooters as part of a culture that is self-radicalized online. Whether a person joins a group, and goes off to be radicalized, or succumbs to a hate group’s recruitment from the bedroom of their family home is immaterial.

It is time that we stop to look for political blame in these heinous crimes and deal with ALL of them for what they are –acts of evil and sick individuals. President Trump is no more to blame for the shooting in Poway than Congresswoman Ilhan Omar is responsible for the acts of Islamic extremist terrorism.

I do not believe for one moment that either of them condones terrorism. We can have strong policy disagreements with either or both, but it is time we address terrorism and mass killings for what they are – the product of a malignant mind – and stop partisan politicization of terror. We can probably deal with it better if we focus on the REAL causes.

So, there ‘tis.
