Horist: I love a parade

&NewLine;<p>President Trump planned a parade to celebrate the 250<sup>th<&sol;sup> anniversary of the United States Army&period;&nbsp&semi;&nbsp&semi; The Army is actually older than America since it was first formed on June 14&comma; 1775&comma; to fight for independence&period;&nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p>The American Army has a long history of service to the nation in preserving our Republic and making the world safe for democracy&period;&nbsp&semi; Millions of men and women have died or been wounded and disabled&period;&nbsp&semi; Lincoln’s words at Gettysburg apply to the 250<sup>th<&sol;sup> anniversary celebration of the Army&period;&nbsp&semi; &OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;It is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this”&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p>Fortunately&comma; this momentous occasion has not been marred by weather &&num;8212&semi; only politics&period;  It did not literally rain on the Army’s parade &&num;8212&semi; unless you count a momentary drizzle&period;  However&comma; Democrats and their media pals created a political thunderstorm&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p>The centerpiece of the national celebration was a military parade in the nation’s capital&period;  As a parade&comma; it was a wonderful show of the Army – personnel&comma; equipment and history&period;  The crowds lining the street cheered the men and women in uniform – and President Trump and Secretary of Defense Hegseth&period;  It was the kind of parade entire families could enjoy viewing – and did&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p>Unfortunately&comma; the President at the time of the anniversary was Donald Trump&period;   That meant there would be a knee-jerk backlash from Democrats and the left-wing establishment&comma; which obsessively finds criticism in everything Trump says or does&period;  Democrats and the left-leaning media were the Grinches who stole the day away from the heroic honorees&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p>By coincidence&comma; the celebration fell on Trump’s birthday&period;  Democrats used that coincidence to mischaracterize the event as a personal birthday parade – a product of his ego&period;  They have been advancing that narrative no matter how many times Trump said it was all about the Army and its milestone 250<sup>th<&sol;sup> anniversary&period; <&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p>The leftward spin fits with their bogus narrative that Trump is an autocrat &&num;8230&semi; an authoritarian &&num;8230&semi; a dictator &&num;8230&semi;&period; a king &&num;8230&semi; who will bring an end to democracy in America&period;  Consequently&comma; the 250<sup>th<&sol;sup> anniversary of the Army was hardly mentioned in left-wing media in the lead up to the celebratory events&period;  In fact&comma; the more left-wing the media&comma; the less they covered the parade&period;  FOX News provided beginning-to-end coverage&period;  MSNBC used their time to criticize the celebration as an overly expensive show of power by a tyrant &&num;8212&semi; and continued with their never ending mendacious anti-Trump&sol;anti-Republican grievances&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p>With the advantage of a crony press – and the availability of ever ready protestors &&num;8212&semi; the Trump Resistance Movement was able to organize a national protest against the parade&period;&nbsp&semi; They literally suffocated the Army celebration with a highly politicized nationwide &OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;No Kings Day” protest&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p>Those protesting the parade may have thought they were protesting Trump&period;  In reality&comma; they were undermining the true meaning of the celebration&period;  They were trashing the Army on its day of celebration&period;  They could have had their meaningless &OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;No Kings Day” at any time – but they chose to target the Army&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p>Documentaries about the noble history of the Army were never made&period;&nbsp&semi; Reports about the heroic deed of the men and women who served &&num;8212&semi; and are serving &&num;8212&semi; were never aired&period;&nbsp&semi; Rather than celebrate the Army and memorialize those who &OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;gave the last full measure of devotion”&comma; we ignored rather than honored them&period;&nbsp&semi; &lpar;Since mine is a Gold Star family&comma; I was deeply offended by the lack of decency&period;&rpar;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p>America has been deprived of the opportunity to participate in a unifying event – and at the same time give proper celebration and recognition to an Army that did so much good for America and the world&period;&nbsp&semi; Shame on those who could not restrain their hatred for a brief patriotic moment&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p>So&comma; there &OpenCurlyQuote;tis&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;
