HORIST: Democrats and their media side with Soleimani
It is a simple question. Was the killing of General Qasem Soleimani a good thing or a bad thing? Former White House National Security Advisor John Bolton says it was “long overdue.” He is correct.
Soleimani has been what the military calls a High Value Target (HVT). For decades Soleimani has been a potential target. President Bush decided to not kill him when an opportunity arose (just as President Clinton earlier took a pass on taking out Osama Bin Laden). President Obama – with his more passive approach to Middle East terrorism — refused to move against Soleimani.
It is important to understand the background of this pathological killer. Soleimani may have been a popular figure with world terrorists and the rogue Irani regime. He may have assumed the title of “general” – suggesting he was a traditional military leader – but in reality, Soleimani was a ruthless pathological killer. Since President Carter allowed the Muslim extremists to take over Iran in 1979 – leading to the situation we have today – Soleimani has been in the fore of international terrorism.
Under the very noses of the Washington diplomatic establishment, Soleimani was allowed to build a matrix of powerful paramilitary terrorist organizations throughout the Middle East. He has been responsible for the deaths of hundreds – if not thousands – of our military men and women – and the wounding and crippling of many times that number. In the larger picture, he is blamed for the deaths of hundreds of thousands of non-American soldiers and civilians. He was an evil genius with a personal lust for blood.
By all measures, Americans should be celebrating this day – as we did when America brought the mighty sword of justice to Bin Laden and Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. As a person who lost a Marine grandson in Iraq, I greet the death of Soleimani with a deep sense of justice delivered.
That is why I am so angered at the media reports I followed on the left-wing news networks. The political left in America has long given comfort, aid and propaganda advantages to the enemies of the United States. The hyper-hatred for President Trump has put much of the left squarely into the enemy camp in terms of news coverage – too often making Iran the victim. They too often say it is our fault that Iran hates America and that their hostile actions are the result of American provocation. They literally blame Trump for the terrorism of Soleimani.
In the first cycle of news of the death of Soleimani, Democrats and media talking heads emphases that it was a “big thing” — a “huge thing – justifying violent responses from Iran or any of the other major terrorist groups. Apparently, they do not believe that killing hundreds of American soldiers, killing an American contractor or attacking our embassy in Baghdad a bit thing – not to mention that three-decade trail of blood that Soleimani left across the Middle East.
This anti-American sentiment is no longer limited to the ever-present fringe of left-wing street activists. It is now a matter of policy within the Democratic Party and the subject of left-wing media propaganda.
In most post-assassination newscasts, reporters, panelists and guest analysts conceded – almost begrudgingly – that Soleimani was a very bad person. But they seized on his death as a way to twist the event into yet another attack on Trump. They stoked the fires of fear by focusing more on potential repercussions than celebrating the justice delivered. They attacked the decision to kill Soleimani with little regard for all the killings he had engineered.
No one could be happier with the reaction of Democrat leaders and their media cronies than the mullahs in Tehran. They have found common cause in an avowed enemy – the President of the United States.
For generations, the bipartisan leadership in Washington adhered to a tradition that “politics ends at the water’s edge” – giving the international community a united front. That has been chipped away with the rise of the far left and has now been completely shattered in the era of irrational personal and political animosity toward Trump. Contrary to their accusations against Trump supporters and voters, it is THEY who put politics ahead of country.
In attacking Trump, the left disparages our national intelligence operation that had uncovered Soleimani’s plans for more and greater attacks on American people and assets. They disparage our military leaders who have had contingency plans to take out Soleimani for years – and who have executed yet another pitch-perfect surgical action. They see accommodation with Iran as a viable policy even though it has failed for decades.
The Democrats’ hatred and fear of Trump are so palpable that they could not stop themselves from twisting the death of Soleimani into a creative series of anti-Trump narratives. Conversely, they praised with faint damnation an international terrorist leader – calling him a charismatic icon, beloved by millions. In their minds, Soleimani was too powerful and too important to render justice for his crimes against America and the civilized world.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi tweeted her opposition to the killing of Soleimani by accusing Trump of escalating the tensions and provoking Iran. Democrat Senators Cory Booker and Chris Murphy took to the late-night airwaves with similar arguments against Trump and, by implication, against our own military. They all but endorsed and promoted a retaliatory strike against the United States.
If all that the Democrats and the elitist media can offer is a continuation of passivity and appeasement to world terrorism, then we should thank God that Trump won the 2016 election. America is much better off with a Commander-in-Chief who will pursue peace through strength rather than peace through surrender.
Yes, there will likely be a violent response from Iran and other terrorist groups, but America should be prepared to deal with them in the strongest possible ways. We have the most powerful military on earth, and we should not back down to terrorism. It is less important whether the conflict escalates than is the final outcome.
As a person who was fearful that Trump was falling into an Obama-like policy of avoiding conflict at any cost, I celebrate the action taken to remove yet another malignant terrorist leader – and look forward to this policy continuing.
So. There ‘tis.
Mr. Horst is right. The USA should be united in its fight against Terrorism. The press and media are not reporting the news and letting their bias affect their reporting. It is unbelievable that all the Democratic Candidates criticized President Trump actions or remained silent.
The way I see it, the cowardly yellow belly Democrats and so called news media don’t give a damn if more Americans are killed just so it isn’t them or their families and friends. Just a few of them killed and we would be seeing a whole different story I assure you. The Dems are the most worthless people to this country I have witnessed in 83 years!!! I think we are fighting the wrong people!!!!! They are more dangerous to us than any enemies!!!!! Their mouths are sewers laden with lies and vitreous cementations on TV, Radio, Paper, Internet!
You are 100% correct, achieve “peace through strength, not through surrender”!
We want our enemies to fear us , not doubt our capabilities. Look at what is happening to the Western world through passivity.and “Political Correctness;” France, Germany, and England are paying the price of civility.
Does any nation start wit Russia; no, Putin is a feared leader. It is better to be feared, th a’s n loved!!!
One question to the Democrats: How many US Service personnel or Citizens need to be killed by a foreign individual in order to make that person a bad guy? If he plans on killing more what should the US do about it? Would any Democratic believing person please go to Iran and ask the followers of General Qasem Soleimani to stop their actions against our troops, to stop their fighting among themselves, and just get along? How many of our Democratic Leaders have visited our front lines, or forward bases that are threatened hourly, how many have condemned our troops for defending themselves and carrying out the orders they have been given only to receive NO support from from these Leftist Liberal groups?
Perhaps the short memories of our Democratic Leaders have forgotten the enemy, the terrorists, the people that refuse to integrate into our culture but want us to support them attacked our Home Land on 9-11 and killed thousands of innocent civilians, ruined lives, killed children, and took away our since of security in our homeland. Perhaps these same liberals forget why TSA was born, forget about all the taxes we pay to train personnel and buy equipment to fight a war overseas instead of on our soil. Perhaps these same liberal supporters need to take a step back and look at their traitorous acts of support they render to an enemy while condemning the people that keep them safe and secure in our homeland. Perhaps our garbage news media needs to take a good look at themselves and recognize that they are no longer impartial and have not been for the last few decades. Perhaps they need to look back in history to the Spanish American War and see how we were forced into it to increase readership by William Randolf Hurst. Perhaps we need to set aside this ever increasing politically driven hate and corruption that has basically destroyed the ability for Congress to do their jobs and start demanding that they start acting like adults and do their elected jobs. Perhaps we need actual Congress persons who are actually willing to buck their own party leaderships to do the right thing instead of bowing to party leadership demands contrary to common since and the rule of law. Perhaps we need to bring back the draft and start taking our boys and teaching them to be self sufficient men. Perhaps we need to start letting our POTUS do his job that the Americans who put him in office elected him to do. Perhaps we need to look at how a Senator or Congressman can stay in their offices for decades, become mega rich and so powerful that they can make threats to new people and cow them into almost becoming slave like to the Party Line. Term limits should be enacted but since both Congressmen and Senators make the rules they have made themselves exempt from those kinds of changes, from laws we end up in jail for breaking, and doing things that cost the tax payer millions of dollars without blinking an eye. Congress is out of control, the media is out of control. A few people can commit actual seditious acts and get away with it to the point it almost becomes traitorous and they get away with it because they have money, power, and can threaten others who have the ability to do something about it. Our Justice Department and investigation agencies tied to it were politically corrupted to the point to day they are no longer trusted to do their jobs. How has all this happened? WE THE PEOPLE allowed it to happen by electing and reelecting corrupt leaders in office and as long as it is perceived that we are not personally affected we go about our lives and believe the incorrect and fact less crap that is shoveled at us every day by the media and self serving leadership. As it was said nearly 250 years ago, either we hang together or we will hang separately. After remembering 9-11, do you want that to happen inside the USA again? If not then we better start supporting the military actions of our troops to stop the leadership an military of other countries from enjoying the terrorism it can create on our soil, to each and ever one of us and our children. Pulling out and allowing them to continue to grow stronger only allows them to plot, kill, and terrorize every citizen, adult and child in the world that does not believe in their beliefs. One final question, where do you want the blood spilled, here or there?
Outstanding post. God BlessAmerica and you.
Outstanding
You do NOT keep on giving the school bully your lunch money. You punch him in the nose and say “NO MORE!” Congratulations on a job well done. The precision was amazing.
Great article and spot on! The Dems are a disgrace to the country and should be impeached for violating their Oath of Office, among other things.
The Democrats need to wake up before they destroy this country. I pray that I am not here when they cause the destruction of the greatest country in the world
Dave Barron, I wish I could create a link to Twitter to your response. You are 100% spot on. Thank you for taking the time to write the response.
The media is completely right to question the motives of this regime, given Trumps terrible track record on foreign relations. You say that the media “begrudgingly” acknowledges that Soleimani is a bad guy, that is simply spin, all acknowledge that he was a bad person, however, two Presidents (Bush and Obama) both of whom are much smarter than Trump, resisted taking him out due to concerns about the repercussions. While the full affect of the action is yet to be seen, the vote by Iraq to expel the US military is not a good sign. We have had far too many actions ordered by various Presidents over the years that have resulted in death and destruction of our troops, as well as the local population, to make a reckless move without careful consideration. Yes, hawks are celebrating, but hawkish moves have kept us in conflict in the middle east, and resulted in more and more middle-easterners having a very dim view of the United States.
If the Iraqis have genuinely voted to have the U.S. presence leave, that will confirm what Trump wanted to do several months ago, but was resisted by the likes of Bolton and several others. Why should our soldiers be kept on the field as pawns, waiting to be taken out by Iranian leaders and proxies? If they don’t want our soldiers there, let them fend for themselves, and let’s deploy our personnel and resources where they are welcome and respected.
All I can add is “Amen, Larry”. Obama policies left us wide open for terrorists to attack us at their whim. It’s long overdue payback to take out Soleimani. Many more need to follow. We should never back down from any terrorist attack, threat or demand. They should all take note of this ending of a terrorist’s reign and heed the warning.

The demoncrats and their media accomplices are currently conducting themselves as “the enemy within the gates” Marcus Tullius Cicero spoke of them in ancient Rome many centuries ago. Havn’t learnt much have we.
We make our own enemies. Removing Iran’s legally-elected in 1953 (U.S. and Britain / CIA and MI6) and installing our guy ( Shah Reza Pahlavi) resulted in the 1979 embassy event. The enemy within the gates is us. From Bush 1 (destroying Iraqi power and sewage facilities in Gulf War 1) to Bush Jr. being responsible for almost destroying the oldest Christian group (Chaldeans) in the world during the follow on war. Our bases ring the total country of Iran so shouldn’t they feel threatened? Soleimani was killed in a strike conducted on sovereign Iraqi soil. Too many of you folks assume we are now safer since the recent assassination.
Think so? Until the U.S. troops are pulled to safety from the Mideast, the cycle will continue.
I see you have no concern or sympathy for the tens of thousands of victims of Soleimani’s blood lust. I can only assume that you hate Trump and America more than you can be objective. You also do not know your history. The Shah was no Mother Theresa, but he was at least on our side. Carter replaced a despot friendly to the US with a despot hateful of the use … and the rest is history. And it was the Ayatollah who took our hostages…not the Shah.
