Hillary doesn't think Bill Should Leave Clinton Foundation

<p><a href&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;punchingbagpost&period;com&sol;media-demands-an-end-to-the-clinton-foundation&sol;" target&equals;"&lowbar;blank"><strong>As I wrote in a previous article&comma;<&sol;strong><&sol;a> the Clinton Foundation has come under serious criticism following the release of the poignant book and documentary <em>Clinton Cash&period;&nbsp&semi;<&sol;em><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The publication&rsquo&semi;s tagline&comma; &ldquo&semi;everything is for sale&rdquo&semi; refers to the numerous instances in which key foundation donors were rewarded with favors and preferential treatment by Hillary&rsquo&semi;s State Department&period;&nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&ldquo&semi;I definitely think if she &lpar;Hillary&rpar; wins the presidency&comma; they have to disband it&comma;&rdquo&semi; said longtime Clinton ally Ed Rendell&period;&nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>These concerns were echoed by media sources on the left and the right&comma; with several major editorial boards calling for&nbsp&semi;an end to the suspicious organization&period;&nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The<em> Los Angeles Times&rsquo&semi;<&sol;em> editorial board asks the Clintons to bequeath the charity to someone with no ties to their family&comma; while the <em>Minneapolis Star-Tribune<&sol;em>&nbsp&semi;editorial board demands it be shut down altogether&colon;&nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&ldquo&semi;There is only one way to mitigate the damage at this point&period; As painful as it would be&comma; the Clintons must shut down what until recently was known as the Bill&comma; Hillary&comma; &amp&semi; Chelsea Clinton Foundation&period; The half-measures being proposed don&rsquo&semi;t go far enough and leave the issue as one that will plague her until the last days of this election and perhaps beyond&period;&rdquo&semi;&nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Bill Clinton responded to these demands by promising to resign from his position in the foundation if Hillary is elected in November&period; Chelsea Clinton&comma; who serves as Vice Chairwoman&comma; confirmed that she would not be stepping down&period;&nbsp&semi;Yesterday&comma; Hillary told ABC that&nbsp&semi;it wouldn&rsquo&semi;t be necessary for Bill to give up his &ldquo&semi;life&rsquo&semi;s work&period;&rdquo&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Jason Miller&comma; Senior Communications Adviser to Donald Trump&comma; says this decision is akin to planting a &&num;8220&semi;giant for sale sign on the White House lawn&period;&&num;8221&semi;&nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&ldquo&semi;I don&rsquo&semi;t think there are conflicts of interest&comma;&rdquo&semi; Hillary told ABC host David Muir&period; &ldquo&semi;I know that that&rsquo&semi;s what has been alleged and never proven&period; But nevertheless&comma; I take it seriously&&num;8230&semi;I&rsquo&semi;m very proud of the work that the Clinton Foundation has done&comma;&&num;8221&semi; she continued&period; &&num;8220&semi;It&rsquo&semi;s a world-renowned charity because of the work that my husband has started and many&comma; many people helped him with&period;&rdquo&semi;&nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>In August&comma; the conservative group Citizens United delivered a new series of State Department emails to ABC&period; The emails&comma; released as part of a public records lawsuit&comma; expose more evidence that allies of the Clinton Foundation received special treatment&period;&nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Clinton&rsquo&semi;s response to this accusation was to repeatedly claim that she never allowed any individual to influence her decisions&period; &ldquo&semi;I feel very good about the work of the foundation&comma;&rdquo&semi; she said&period; &ldquo&semi;I feel very good about my service as secretary of state&period; No decision I ever made was influenced by anybody&period;&rdquo&semi;&nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&ldquo&semi;What I made a decision based on was what was good for the United States&comma; what was good for our values&comma; our interests&comma; and our security&period; And the State Department has confirmed there&rsquo&semi;s no evidence of any such influence at all&period;&rdquo&semi;&nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;
