Hate or Hoax? Gay Pastor Sues Whole Foods for Cake Message

<p>Texas pastor Jordan Brown is suing Whole Foods grocery store for &ldquo&semi;emotional damage&period;&rdquo&semi; The openly gay pastor ordered a custom cake from the Whole Foods bakery&comma; requesting that it say &ldquo&semi;Love Wins&rdquo&semi; in icing&period; The cake he received on April 14th said &ldquo&semi;Love Wins FAG&period;&rdquo&semi;&nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>And here is where the story gets fishy&period; As you can see from the photo above&comma; the offensive word is easy to see&period; <em>There&rsquo&semi;s no way&nbsp&semi;Brown would not have noticed&period;&nbsp&semi;<&sol;em><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Instead of confronting the bakery then and there&comma; however&comma; he was apparently halfway home before he noticed the anti-gay slur&period; Brown says that he called the store and spoke with an &ldquo&semi;extremely apologetic&rdquo&semi; employee&period; The&nbsp&semi;store called back two hours later and told him they could not do anything about the incident&period; Infuriated&comma; Brown posted a video to social media showing the sealed&comma; unopened box containing the offensive pastry&period;&nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Whole Foods claims the whole thing is a hoax&period; The store has a zero-tolerance policy for discrimination and denies the offending word was added by anyone working for the store&period;&nbsp&semi;&ldquo&semi;Our team member wrote &ldquo&semi;Love Wins&rdquo&semi; at the top of the cake as requested by the guest&comma; and that&rsquo&semi;s exactly how the cake was packaged and sold at the store&comma;&rdquo&semi; reads a statement released by the store&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&ldquo&semi;We stand behind our bakery team member&comma; who is part of the LGBTQ community&comma; and the additional team members from the store&comma; who confirmed the cake was decorated with only the message &ldquo&semi;Love Wins&period;&rdquo&semi;&nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&ldquo&semi;I&rsquo&semi;ve had to face years of discrimination and judgment for something th I had no control over&comma;&rdquo&semi; complained Brown in an interview&period; He says that he is a huge fan of the grocery store&comma; but is still demanding a trial&period;&nbsp&semi;Brown even went so far as to throw a dash of racism into the story by claiming the bakery employee responsible for the slur was a white Caucasian&period;&nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><em>My question is that if he saw the woman who wrote on the cake &ndash&semi; why didn&rsquo&semi;t he see what she wrote&quest;&nbsp&semi;<&sol;em><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&&num;8220&semi;As a pastor&comma; I forgive her&period; I&rsquo&semi;m praying for her that she would have a change of heart&comma;&rdquo&semi; Brown told a local news station&period; &ldquo&semi;If we don&rsquo&semi;t take a stand for what is right&comma; these things will continue to happen&period;&rdquo&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Whole Foods maintains the story is a fake and has decided to counter-sue&period; We are inclined to agree&period;&nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;
