Gilbertson to Democrats: You Have a Real Job. So Knock Off the Clown Show

I’m officially out of patience.
Congress just gave us another episode of Political Theater: The Cringe Edition, starring Rep. Al Green’s latest antics, a refusal to stand for a cancer-stricken kid (seriously?), and the predictable Republican outrage machine firing up like a broken car alarm. Then, as expected, the media turned it into the Story of the Century – until the next scandal drops.
Honestly, this would all be hilarious if it weren’t so painfully stupid.
What we’re witnessing is pure, unfiltered propaganda, bad acting, performative outrage, and grandstanding designed to rally the least attentive parts of each party’s base. It’s all a game of “Look at those disgusting idiots! We, on the other hand, are flawless heroes!” The problem? No one’s even pretending to be authentic anymore.
Now, don’t get me wrong—there are times when genuine outrage is warranted. But can we at least stop rehearsing it in front of a mirror first?
Let’s be real: Republicans run the show right now. They’ve got Congress, the White House, and the Supreme Court. That means the country is going in a certain direction. Elections have consequences. Donald Trump isn’t exactly known for playing nice; he governs like a bulldozer with no reverse gear. He assumes authority, bends rules, and yes, occasionally bullies his way through.
But that’s why Democrats matter. They have a crucial role, and it’s not to just throw tantrums, it’s to oppose with integrity.
And to their credit, they’re doing some of that. Challenging Trump in court? Good. Mobilizing opposition groups? Fine. Using the media to push back? Expected. A strong opposition keeps the ruling party in check and ensures the Constitution isn’t treated like a suggestion box. Even as a Trump supporter, I respect that role.
But let’s talk about what’s NOT working.
- A staged ejection of Al Green shaking his cane – no.
- When Rep. Tlaib acts like cartel tunnels are some kind of protected cultural heritage site – that’s not it.
- When AOC keeps delivering headline-ready nonsense – not helping.
- When Schumer and Jeffries make non-statements that are basically political white noise – again, do better.
You don’t oppose Trump by cheering for Hamas, fighting to keep violent criminals in the country, or setting Maxine Waters loose to declare that Trump “didn’t talk about the issues.” (Ma’am, what are you even saying?)
I get it. Democrats are leaderless right now, and for the past four years, their best minds have been shoved aside in favor of the woke, the wild, and the just plain weird.
But it’s time for the grown-ups to take the wheel. The Democratic Party can be a formidable opposition if they focus on real fights. Ditch the theatrics, use common sense, bring technical expertise, and remember that American society as a whole actually matters.
Want to fight Trump? Want to get elected next time? Oppose with substance. The country deserves at least that much.
As an Independent, Al Greene’s censorship speech was 100X better than Trump’s speech. At least he had the balls to speak truth to power and truly represented his district constituents. That is his job. GOP are currently without balls. Trump has them all cut off. Trump’s speech was just more lies and deceit and actually did not talk about the state of the nation.
Is everyone enjoying the Trump dip in the stock market? Have those GROCERIES gone down in price? oh and by the way, RUSSIA INVADED UKRAINE!!!!
No, that is not his job. He was not elected to pull stunts to purposely get thrown out of Congress. It was childish, it made the Democrats look like petty idiots (which some of them are). Time to push the grownups to the fore.
And that is typical that you are blaming Trump for the problems that Biden caused. He has only been in office for 6 weeks.
You obviously do not know what his comments were. There is nothing in the constitution that states we must have a state of the nation speech. It was an official gathering of Congress. His job is to make his constituents wishes known within the Congress. He did that to the best of his ability. And all the while, all GOP representatives allowed Trump to continue lying!
You seem to give MJT a free pass when she and other MAGA idiots disrupted Biden’s speeches. Go back and review Biden’s 2023 and 2024 speeches. Stop being such a hypocrit Joe!
Tom, to reach a bit further back in the archives, let’s not forget Joe Wilson’s memorable “you lie” comment to Obama during an address made to congress. Don’t believe that Joe Wilson was escorted out however-Obama didn’t have the thin skin that the reality show star has however….
That’s different. Obama was lying.
Wampler is a racist terming anyone with a hint of African blood a “hood rat communist.” Al Greene represents Houston, mostly latino, but yes, definitely an area where white is a minority. Lots of “hoods” in Texas…. Average income is over $60K, more than Wampler makes no doubt. Poverty is higher than average, but it’s Texas and Greene’s district is a bit higher than the Texas average. Most of the people here are ALICE, Wampler, not hood rats.
Joe is wrong: Obama did not lie about ObamaCare not serving illegal undocumented; never has. That’s what Wilson was screaming about. But you don’t even have to go back that far to find Republican rabble rousers in Congress. There’s the physical attack this year at the Trump talk, or MTGreene the pimp in recent years wearing dark-maga hats, screaming insults, etc.
Al Greene is a lawyer who served as Justice of the Peace for 30 years before entering Congress. Must be a communist. He is certainly backed by Waters and has been re-elected almost a dozen times.
Joe is as upset with Greene’s actions at the speech as I was with the other Greene’s actions during Biden’s speeches. Dressed in Congressional pimping outfits, she screamed “say her name” and would not sit down. No ejection, no censure, and Biden even responded. Tough guy Trump had nothing to say, just his famous grimace. The year before Greene in another drag costume yelled “liar” and worse, and no ejection, no censure.
So if you want Greene, you better give up a Greene. She’s easy to spot, looks like a whore.
Greene did what he did, he accepted the punishment, the punishment was fair, IMO. Do the crime, do the time, and crime it is, they all should have been censured. Now, let’s go after Rep. Lance Gooden, a Republican also from Texas who ripped a sign away from Rep. Melanie Stansbury, tore it up and tossed it in the air. That’s an act of violence against a Congressional member, in the Congress in front of Johnson, who did nothing and the cameras that saw everything. No ejection. No censure. Johnson just didn’t have the johnson to do that one.
Toughen up buttercup, gonna be a long summer.
As to the job: it’s your House, it’s your Senate, so do something. Maybe start by telling the Executive Office to quit fucking with your appropriations, the departments you created, and to stick to his own side of the street. Then, get the budget in place that supports what the billionaire elites want to do with their chainsaws. Cheer the judiciary when they say he’s gone too far, the Felon King is king of the felons, he is NOT our King.
And yes, Dems are leaderless, Joe’s retired, Harris in hiding, Walz debated his away. We are churning to find a message, ain’t gonna stop until Trump’s mistakes mount up, too many people on both sides get hurt, die from measles, flu, plane crashes and worse, the economy tanks again under his actions that gives us a message of change. We don’t even have a leader in the wings IMO. Really, the balls in your court, or should I say Musk’s court, and so far your not exactly handling it well. Not well at all. And we’re just getting started. If this is what happens in a cold ending to Winter, wait till you see what blooms in the Spring.
Gonna be a long summer.
Two years.
If you want to work together, ejecting a Congressman like Greene, Al or Marjorie, is not the icebreaker you want. If you want to work together, work together and quit doing law by EO’s, memorandums, and edicts. You did not elect a King. You did not elect Musk for anything. How can the guy who makes billions off government contracts manage the organizations giving the contracts? If you want to work together, start by formally appointing Musk, put him through Congressional confirmation, get him an arms-length from any government business with his private businesses, and let’s get to work. IF you want to work together, state your plan. Drill baby drill, cut momma cut, deport dude deport, tariff bitch tariff are not plans. Get some transparency — who is being deported, fired, cut, or put in jail. The chaos is all consuming.
Greene should be expelled from the congress. Naturally you’re going to take sides with a hood rat communist
