Former Virginia Governor Jim Gilmore Enters Presidential Race

Former Virginia governor Jim Gilmore has announced he will be the 17th candidate for the Republican presidential nomination.  Gilmore was Virginia governor from 1998 to 2002, stepping up from Attorney General.  He was later on the Board of Directors for the National Rifle Association and CEO of two conservative non-profits organization.

A former Army counter intelligence officer, Gilmore chaired the Congressional Advisory Panel to Assess Domestic Capabilities for Terrorism Involving Weapons of Mass Destruction.

Author’s note:  The author lived in Virginia during Governor Gilmore’s term.  He is intelligent, capable and, by anyone’s standards “Presidential.”  He is on the right side of the fence on building the military, guns right and more.

The only question is can he compete with the likes of Jeb Bush and Donald Trump, each of whom is well organized and overwhelmingly better funding. While we believe the Governor to be a good man, he will have to show us a lot in the next few months to be believed as a contender.
