<p>When President Obama receive the Nobel Peace Prize less than a year into his first term, many jaws dropped. It seemed the Nobel committee awarded this based on what they thought he could do rather than what he had done.  ;</p>
<p>In a new memoir about his time on the Nobel Prize committee, non-voting director Geir Lundestad wrote &#8220;In retrospect, we could say that the argument of giving Obama a helping hand was only partially correct. Many of Obama&rsquo;s supporters believed it was a mistake.  ;As such, it did not achieve what the committee had hoped for.&rdquo;</p>
<p>Lundestad stepped down in 2014 after 25 years as the director ;of Norway&#8217;s Nobel Institute.  ;In an AP interview he said they &#8220;thought it would strengthen Obama and it didn&rsquo;t have [that] effect.&#8221;</p>
<p>Members of the institute rarely speak about the selection process.</p>
<p><strong>Author&#8217;s note:</strong>  ;I guess we on the conservative side should take some offense at this.  ;Are they in the business of interfering in U.S. politics?  ;And aren&#8217;t they supposed to be rewarding people who have made <em><strong>actual accomplishments?  ;</strong></em></p>
<p>Their actions strengthened a President whose (in our humble opinion) every move was wrong, the middle east in shambles, Russia is newly aggressive, China is doing sneak cyber attacks, and our health care system is turning socialist.</p>
