Former Nobel Prize Director: Obama's Nobel Prize a 'mistake'

<p>When President Obama receive the Nobel Peace Prize less than a year into his first term&comma; many jaws dropped&period; It seemed the Nobel committee awarded this based on what they thought he could do rather than what he had done&period; &nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>In a new memoir about his time on the Nobel Prize committee&comma; non-voting director Geir Lundestad wrote &&num;8220&semi;In retrospect&comma; we could say that the argument of giving Obama a helping hand was only partially correct&period; Many of Obama&rsquo&semi;s supporters believed it was a mistake&period; &nbsp&semi;As such&comma; it did not achieve what the committee had hoped for&period;&rdquo&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Lundestad stepped down in 2014 after 25 years as the director&nbsp&semi;of Norway&&num;8217&semi;s Nobel Institute&period; &nbsp&semi;In an AP interview he said they &&num;8220&semi;thought it would strengthen Obama and it didn&rsquo&semi;t have &lbrack;that&rsqb; effect&period;&&num;8221&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Members of the institute rarely speak about the selection process&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><strong>Author&&num;8217&semi;s note&colon;<&sol;strong> &nbsp&semi;I guess we on the conservative side should take some offense at this&period; &nbsp&semi;Are they in the business of interfering in U&period;S&period; politics&quest; &nbsp&semi;And aren&&num;8217&semi;t they supposed to be rewarding people who have made <em><strong>actual accomplishments&quest; &nbsp&semi;<&sol;strong><&sol;em><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Their actions strengthened a President whose &lpar;in our humble opinion&rpar; every move was wrong&comma; the middle east in shambles&comma; Russia is newly aggressive&comma; China is doing sneak cyber attacks&comma; and our health care system is turning socialist&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;
