We knew the Democratic Party was corrupt, but the events leading up to the 2016 presidential election showed us that the problem was even worse than we thought.
At the very heart of this corruption was the Democratic National Convention (DNC) and its favoritism for Hillary Clinton (and against Bernie Sanders).
Last October, WikiLeaks released damning emails proving that former CNN contributor and DNC Chair Donna Brazile had forwarded town hall questions to the Clinton campaign team the night before an upcoming debate.
Brazile was forced to resign from CNN.
She initially denied any wrongdoing, telling Fox News that “as a Christian woman” she understands persecution. “I will not sit here and be persecuted,” she said. “Your information is totally false.”
Brazile finally came clean this week in an essay published in TIME magazine:
“Among the many things I did in my role as a Democratic operative and DNC Vice Chair…was to share potential town hall topics with the Clinton campaign,” writes Brazile.
“My job was to make all our Democratic candidates look good, and I worked closely with both campaigns to make that happen. But sending those emails was a mistake I will forever regret.”
Her essay is mostly a rant about the alleged Trump-Russia connection and the GOP’s failure to properly investigate.
“By stealing all the DNC’s emails and then selectively releasing those few, the Russians made it look like I was in the tank for Secretary Clinton,” writes Brazile.
“The media narrative played out just as the Russians had hoped, leaving Sanders supporters understandably angry and sowing division in our ranks. In reality, not only was I not playing favorites, the more competitive and heated the primary got, the harder DNC staff worked to be scrupulously fair and beyond reproach.”
This is not a respectable confession. This is Brazile admitting to doing something everyone already knew about – while playing the victim and continuing to blame the Russians for the problems endemic to the current Democratic Party.
Brazile is doing her best to distract the public from her own wrongdoings by insisting that Americans continue to investigate the Russian cyberattack and take steps to prevent future attacks.
At the end of her essay, she calls for a “9/11-style independent commission to make sure our country identifies the steps we need to take to prevent similar attacks in the future.”
Editor’s note: Brazile now has the audacity to admit that she helped Hillary cheat against Bernie Sanders. Have we heard from Hillary Clinton? No, of course not. And yet the mainstream media has ignored this completely.
