FBI Director Comey is Fired

Last night President Trump fired FBI Director James Comey, at the recommendation of both Attorney General Jeff Sessions and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein. Trump said the FBI had lost the confidence of the American people and he doubted Comey’s ability to lead the Bureau in days to come.

According to Rosenstein, a careerist with limited political leanings, “I cannot defend the director’s handling of the conclusion of the investigation of Secretary Clinton’s emails, and I do not understand his refusal to accept the nearly universal judgment that he was mistaken. Almost everyone agrees that the director [made] serious mistakes; it is one of the few issues that unites people of diverse perspectives.”

Critics say this is the worst possible time to fire Comey given the ongoing probe of possible Russian involvement in U.S. elections. 

Senator and former Clinton running mate Tim Kaine said, “That shows that we have a deeply insecure president who understands that the noose is tightening because of this [FBI] Russia investigation and that’s why I believe he has let Jim Comey go. I think there is an effort to stop this investigation in its track.”

However, at the PB Post we believe this was long overdue. It is tough to determine what the political influences have been throughout the Hillary Clinton investigations, however it is clear this was not handled as a traditional investigation. When the FBI director made a speech outlining horrible crimes by Hillary and then declining to prosecute, both sides of the political aisle were left baffled and angry.

Comey’s drawing out of the Russia case (despite the absence of any evidence, as noted by almost everyone who has been in a position to know) made him the constant focus of attention in the liberal media. It is time to get past this and get back to work.
