“America” –  first met Josh Duggar through the TV show 19 Kids and Counting, a series that documents the life of this unique Christian family with 19 children. Speaking of children, Josh is now caught up in a child molestation scandal after a police report from 2006 was leaked to the public.

Josh, being the eldest of Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar’s children, went from TV personality to car salesman to political activist. He has been involved in conservative politics for years including presidential campaigns for Mike Huckabee and Rick Santorum. Josh is known for his strong support of Christian viewpoints. He strongly opposes divorce, gay marriage, and abortion.

The Arkansas-native moved to DC in 2014 with his wife and three kids to accept a position as executive director of a non-profit lobbying sector of the Family Research Council called FRC Action. Many suspect that Josh’s celebrity status earned him the job, but either way he didn’t keep it for long.

Josh was forced to resign when the news got out that at age 14 he had molested a few of his sisters while they were all asleep in the same room. A 2006 police report published in the magazine InTouch revealed the details.

Apparently the young Josh had confessed his sins to his father, who sent him away for a few months for hard work and counseling. Upon his return, the family forgave Josh and life in the busy household continued as normal. Charges were never filed. The family told press that the experience, although unexpected and tragic, brought them all closer to god. Josh is open and humble about his actions.

Josh’s official statement to People magazine: “Twelve years ago, as a young teenager, I acted inexcusably for which I am extremely sorry and deeply regret. I hurt others, including my family and close friends.”

Josh and his family have taken every effort to overcome young Josh’s hormonal childhood faux pas and many conservatives are dismissing the situation as wrong but not uncommon teenage behavior.

Not surprisingly, the liberal media is quite enjoying the story and trying to make it as dirty and sensational as possible. But they really are grasping for straws this time, bringing up unrelated information, like the face that Josh has said multiple times that gays are a danger to children, and even inventing false information. Perhaps the worst insult came from actress Rose McGowan, who embarrassed herself with a Twitter tirade in which she published a false quote by Ted Cruz.

Mike Huckabee, on the other hand, stood up to defend Josh, calling his actions “inexcusable” but not “unforgivable.” He reminds us that the reason crimes and “accidents” committed by minors are often kept quiet is because “being a minor means that one’s judgment is not mature.”
