Donald Trump was Fighting Racism in the 1980s

The Left has been quick to portray GOP nominee Donald Trump as a racist and a bigot, and while it’s true he sometimes makes blunt remarks, it turns out the real estate mogul was fighting racism and anti-Semitism back in the 1980s.

Palm Beach, Florida has always been an exclusive paradise belonging only to the rich and famous. Donald Trump purchased the island’s Mar-a-Lago (“Sea-to-Lake”) estate for $10 million in 1985 and transformed it into a private club.

While this was somewhat unique for Palm Beach society, what really had the locals rattled was that Trump invited blacks and Jews into his club – something other (liberal-run) clubs had long avoided. “He put the light on Palm Beach,” said Abe Foxman, national director of the Anti-Defamation League. “Not on the beauty and glitter, but on its seamier side of discrimination. It has an impact.”

Trump made his opinions about the island’s discriminatory habits blatantly clear when he sent a copy of “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner” (a film that focuses on upper-class racism) to the town council.

But the council would not listen to Trump’s requests to lift town restrictions on the club. In 1996, the billionaire filed a $100 million lawsuit against the town, claiming Palm Beach was “discriminating against Mar-a-Lago, in part because it is open to Jews and African Americans,” reported The American Spectator.

The lawsuit drew unwanted attention to the island, and Palm Beach eventually changed its ways.

“In today’s world, the Left demands racial quotas and supports illegal immigration. What all of these things have in common is that they are designed to divide Americans by race, to divide by skin color,” writes the Spectator’s Jeffrey Lord. “Long before he was running for president, there was Donald Trump battling racism and anti-Semitism in Palm Beach society. Using every tool at his disposal.”

President Obama, on the other hand, has upped his bullying of Donald Trump in recent weeks:

“Now, somebody else who has never shown any regard for workers, has never fought on behalf of social justice issues… They don’t suddenly become a populist because they say something controversial in order to win votes. That’s not the measure of populism. That’s nativism or xenophobia or worse. Or it’s just cynicism.”

The part about workers is particularly false, considering the fact that Trump has employed tens of thousands of workers in his lifetime. Barrack Obama has never owned a business, and his government policies have done more to hurt businesses and the working class than any president in recent history.

“The harsh reality of the racism charge against Trump is not that it is bogus, utterly false from start to finish. The reality is the charges of racism against Trump are coming from the one political force in the country that has a long, deep, and immutable history of racism,” reports the Spectator. “A racism that is no relic of a long ago past but both current and visceral, and used now as it has always been used – to divide and judge by skin color for political profit.”
