Donald Trump is Suing Facebook, Will You Join Him?

Donald Trump is Suing Facebook, Will You Join Him?

Former President Donald Trump this week announced class-action lawsuits targeting Facebook, Twitter, and Google over the platforms’ censorship of conservative content – including himself.

“There is no better evidence that Big Tech is out of control than the fact that they banned the sitting president of the United States earlier this year,” said Trump on Wednesday. “If they can do it to me, they can do it to anyone.”

Facebook, Twitter, and Google banned Trump from their platforms in January following the riot at the US Capitol. Twitter’s ban is permanent, while YouTube says it will lift its ban on Trump “when it determines the risk of real-world violence has decreased.”

In June, Facebook executives said their ban on Trump would last for at least two years – meaning he is unable to use the site until after the 2022 midterm elections.

Trump’s lawsuits seek unspecified punitive damages, the reinstatement of his and other plaintiff’s’ accounts, the removal of fact-check labels and other warnings from conservative content, and the declaration of Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act as unconstitutional.

“While the social media companies are officially private entities, in recent years they have ceased to be private with the enactment and their historical use of Section 230, which profoundly protects them from liability,” argues Trump. “It is in effect a massive government subsidy, these companies have been co-opted, coerced, and weaponized by government actors to become the enforcers of illegal, unconstitutional censorship.”

Trump signed an executive order targeting Section 230 in May 2020, but President Joe Biden revoked it this year.

Big Tech is guilty of censoring countless conservative voices (including this website) while at the same time hiding negative press about liberals. Do you remember last year when Facebook and Twitter blocked users from sharing a New York Post article about Hunter Biden?

More recently, Facebook was found to have suppressed vaccine hesitancy. As I wrote in a previous article (click here), internal documents shared with Project Veritas exposed an algorithm that identifies and demotes comments promoting vaccine hesitantly.

In late May, Facebook lifted a ban on posts suggesting COVID escaped from a lab as new evidence supporting the lab-leak theory emerged. The ban itself represents suppression of free speech.

“We’re demanding an end to the shadow-banning, a stop to the silencing, and a stop to the blacklisting, banishing, and canceling that you know so well,” said Trump. “We will prove that this censorship is unlawful, it’s unconstitutional, and it’s completely un-American.”

I join Trump because this should never have happened for Facebook, Twitter and Google to shut the mouth and ears of almost all of America, forbidding them to listen to our President and each other.

I applaud trump for filing this lawsuit! The American people look forward to his disposition under oath on why his account was suspended and how his tweets contributed to 1-6. This wasn’t a well thought out strategy by trump, but it should help America recover from the attempted overthrow of our democracy.
Most of us on the left are pretty excited to see how this plays out.

Lut, I assume you are replying to me…
        Why the name calling?
What are you proud of the President for?
What makes me unAmerican? I was born and raised in America, served in our Armed Forces, and made a career of Public Safety…and I have not supported the overthrow of our Government. Seems like I’m pretty darned American.

Oh, and my life partner is very fit.

Ben you like to check facts. Lee Harvey Oswald served in the marine corps. But he was a full fledged commie. You probably don’t carry a commie party card but you are a Marxist in your thinking. And you can’t have much intelligence. You think that retard joe and his token ho are good leaders. Just like the Washington swamp. It shows when you criticize everything that Trump did but you don’t say a damned word about the fuck ups running the asylum now. But they will NEVER run me The Cuban government is calling for their supporters to stand against the freedom fighters. Perhaps you should go and give them a hand seeing that you think socialism is the greatest thing on earth

Dan, there’s a lot of angry white man rhetoric in your post, so I’ll try to address as much as I can.
First, the closest thing to a political ideology I have would probably be Democratic Socialist. Like Biden, I believe in a capitalistic society. I believe workers need to band together to advocate for themselves. There really isn’t a true socialist of leftist movement in America. If anything we have moved so far right that a center right belief system is what you would call communist. Not that words have meaning to you.
I have served this country one way or another my entire adult life. Why would I leave? I believe there is room for improvement, especially when it comes to how we treat our poor and minority communities. But I’m not trying to overthrow the government or make America great, just better.
As far as Marxism, I couldn’t really find a definition that fit into my thought process. But I guess I do believe that there will always be a struggle between workers and their employers. If you could provide a better definition, I’d be glad to reevaluate how to classify my belief system.

The good news is angry, bigoted, conservative white men are a dying breed and soon there won’t be enough hold outs to stop the Democratic agenda. The better news is if I don’t live long enough to see it, I’ve produced 4 driven offspring that are more than prepared to see this through. It’s only a matter of time that people that think like you are a relic of the past.

It was Trump who leaked secrets to the Russians, and gave Putin a place on the world stage… and Biden who took Putin (and Trump, for that matter) to the woodshed… Who’s the Communist? I would say the evidence (and I know you guys are not sticklers about truth OR evidence) points to Trump being a wannabee dictator, which firmly puts him into Communist territory.

But, really, what right is Trump asserting? The First Amendment says: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

The relevant part of the Amendment is “Congress shall make no law… abridging the freedom of speech”

So, Facebook, et al, decide they don’t like Trump tryng to overthrow the government from their respective platforms, and they ban him. Congress has done nothing related to Trump’s rights. The social media companies have the right to police their properties. Indeed, they have a responsibility, because they could be sued for libel or be accused of conspiring with Trump to overthrow the government. On top of that, they have their brands to protect, and it lies within their rights (and is also in their Terms of Service) to censor any goddamned thing on their website that they want to. They have a duty to shareholders to protect themselves.

As an example, if Lut found out Ben’s full name, and actually published it in a post on this site and called him a pigfucker (without any evidence to support that assertion!), I dare say the editor would probably take Lut’s post down, and most likely ban him. Otherwise, PBM could be sued for liable. Otherwise, Ben might sue PBM and you for big bucks. You, for another example, in your own uneducated and crude style of writing, throw out insults and accusations, but only at public figures and other readers who can’t be identified, and the editor lets even your most embarassing posts remain. It’s no big deal to PBM when some of the uneducated dolts make fools of themselves – in fact, it just inspires more uneducated dolts to get indignant and excited and add their own illiterate writings, and makes PBM seem relevant. Stop me if you don’t understand any of the words…

So, Trump lies constantly, maintains (against all evidence) The Big Lie that he won the election, tries to rile up his base, creates various lawsuits just so he can appeal for money, and has already and continues to try to overthrow the governement and undermine duly elected President Biden – who in their fucking right mind would repeat that shit?

Ha ha, I love that! Everything Trump touches, every candidate he endorses, everyone who supports him – they all end up in a trash-heap, and somehow Trump manages to walk away clean. Ain’t gonna happen this time, he came out of the shadows, and will pay for it.

It’s a private business, not a street corner. Trump is free to publish his crap wherever he can. He is no more able to force a private business to publish than a baker can be forced to sell a wedding cake to a gay couple. Weird how Trumpers support one but not the other

But donate, that’s what the Trump case is really about. Fleecing the faithful one more time.

FYI; name-callers have already lost the debate by debasing themselves. C
