Did the Trump obsession sink Democrats?

Did the Trump obsession sink Democrats?

No reasonable person can disagree that Democrats and the left-wing media has given all things relating to President Trump maximum time and space in the electronic and print formats.  Never in my lifetime – and I bet in the history of the nation – has a former president garnered so much attention from the Fourth Estate for what he did in the past and what he might do in the future.

Networks like MSNBC turned over their 24-hour schedule to news and narratives about Trump.  It is the left-wing media’s mission to defeat all Republicans and conservatives, they have engaged in a hyper-hyperbolic strategy of smearing the Republican brand with accusations of authoritarianism, sedition and mythical attempts to overthrow the government.

But has the strategy backfired … in two ways?

Has the myopic attention to Trump been too much even for Democrats who may be progressives, but still tire of the Groundhog Day-style coverage?  They have been viewing the same videos of the Capitol Hill riot on a daily basis for almost two years.  The same accusations.  Occasionally there may be a new twist in the ongoing saga, but mostly only old boilerplate parading as news.

I raise this possibility for two reasons.  Virtually all my Trump-hating friends have given up MSNBC.  Some have given up cable news altogether.  One even cut off his cable service.  Another switched to old movies on “Turner Classic Movies.”  Not sure what the others are doing with their time.

There is a bit of slippage in the number of folks spending time watching left-wing cable news—indicating that there may be a lot more people like my left-wing friends.

You may have noticed how Democrats have been complaining that their problem was “messaging.”  The voters were not hearing all the good news Biden & Co. wanted voters to know.

Is it possible that their problem was all that time the media was giving to Trump?  Did Trump and the left-wing press engage in an alliance – perhaps unintended – keep Biden’s and the Democrats’ messages off the air and out of the print media pages.

After all, there is only a fixed amount of airtime and print space.  There can be no disagreement that Trump was garnering the lion’s share.  The Trump stories were sucking a lot of the oxygen out of the room.

It would be no small irony if the media’s efforts to get Trump boomeranged and hurt Biden and the Democrats.

So, there ‘tis.

Or maybe it’s just that Rachel and Tiffany are gone.

But you are right even though you keep repeating your msnbc mantra in story after story. They have got boring, repetitious, and whiny.

One word – DUH! It’s a freaking mystery with the loony left. They have to lie, cheat and demean 1/2 the nation because they despise one man. If that isn’t the definition of obsession, I don’t know what is. I do believe, however that the Media is the root of all the hate. We have a free press, but they can be sued if they go too far. The more they lose cases against conservatives and Republicans, the stupider they get. It’s insanity played out every day. Will they finally give up when the whole damn Democrat Party is destroyed? I think that since they are verifiably possessed by some demon of hate, probably not. Satan hates us ALL. They think that Satan loves them and if they do more evil against believers, that he will love them even better. Certifiable fools of the saddest kind. Their destruction will be swift. They will destroy themselves. God will let them fall on their own sword. Elon Musk getting Twitter is only one example of a sword they used to hurt believers and conservatives will ultimately be the tool that God uses to punish them. I hope they wake up before it’s too late, but I’m not confident that they can, or will, ever come to the light and to the RIGHT.

    Larry,
First, That you admit having friends (plural, more than one) who you still are politically left-wing.
All things considered in context, your having friend relationships with persons with whom you are philosophically opposed seems anomalous. People Known to me as friends and who identify as conservative or others who come out as progressive seldom talk politics together. In fact neither broach the subject when around me, either. Not that politics is taboo, no one wants to go there in social setting. And, the different opinion philosophy holders have made pact to agree to disagree. I wonder how they manage a relationship with you and how you manage your opinion around them.
You all have to be long time friends, understanding and good humored.
Second, coming up to the midterm elections , news media folks predicted Republicans could expect wins. They give election history in the US as evidence. Elections swing from party to party with a change of party in the Executive Branch in one election cycle, history shows the other Party more often takes wins the following midterm election. So, it’s not unreasonable for midterms ‘22 might follow history.
However, it seems both parties have the attitude the same, history be damned. Democrats can’t afford a re-enactment of history. Republican won’t accept anything less than red landslide. It’s was set up early on like a grudge match. A take no prisoners war between Parties.
Third, if the word term hyperbolic (even hyper-hyperbolic) gets used describing Democratic Party behavior, policy, and myopic Groundhog Day attention towards Trump. It is ironic given Republican biased FOX Entertainment’s disinformation conspiracy theory over play. Which became the Republican war chant by that Party’s elected membership and parroted by avowed Republicans, base MAGA and mainstream Republicans. Hyperbolic has been commentary projecting Republican drum beating against Democrats in general and President Biden particularly, when attempting smear Republicans unjustly accuse Democrats of actions done and words spoken,. Republicans’ plans are a ruse for distraction purposes.
If someone is using the adjective word “mendacious” appropriately for anyone , consider former president Donald J Trump. He is the poster child for mendacious. Not the Democratic Party as a whole nor its elected persons.
Whole populations of persons can not realistically all get suited and be generalized as untrustworthy inventors of lies and schemers of evil. One individual who is the full measure the definition for mendacious makes its point most clear.
Is it not an objective true fact? That man can not be trusted tell the truth, when expected and called for. No rationalizing away with outlandish explanations.
Democrats do not fit that label. Republicans who conjure these deplorable behavior traits on the opposition are themselves being mendacious.
This being my own insights from a most humble opinion . Agree or disagree, it’s all the same to me. Happily moving on without another’s disagreement baggage weight.
