Did impeachment impact on Covid-19?

Democrats and their media cronies are working overtime to sell the narrative that President Trump did not pay sufficient early attention to the outbreak of the Covid-19 virus in Wuhan, China. They now use some of his January and February comments – out of context, by the way – to establish their prosecutorial case.

To support their political narrative, they repeatedly play clips of Trump. They DO NOT, however, play the clips of the much-respected Dr. Anthony Fauci saying the very same things at the very same times. The leading and most trusted expert in America – according to the press – said that America had nothing to fear from what was happening in China.

The press did not adequately report that Trump cut off all but essential travel from China (you cannot stop Americans from coming home) – and that Fauci said the action was instrumental in saving thousands of lives. They also did not report that Democrats blasted the action by the President as unnecessary, xenophobic and racist.

But there was something else going on at the time that is now receiving very little attention – actually none. It is something that actually drowned-out virtually all the Covid-19 coverage.

In December of 2019 – when Covid-19 was appearing on the streets of Wuhan – House Democrats – under the leadership of Speaker Nancy Pelosi – were impeaching Trump in what was the most partisan and the only crimeless impeachment in American history. They were tying up the Congress, the White House and the national media with a political drama that had no hope of removing the President from office.

In an act of astounding political crassness, Pelosi even held up sending the Articles of Impeachment over to the Senate so as to drag out the drama solely for perceived political benefit. So, just as the early warnings over Covid-19 appeared on the horizon, Pelosi and her congressional stooges – House Intelligence Chairman Adam Schiff and House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler – were drawing public attention away from Covid-19 and hoping to decapitate the Executive Branch in the midst of a potential crisis.

Because of them, the nation had to needlessly endure a useless and irrelevant Senate trial for weeks as the Covid-19 was starting to reach epidemic proportions around the world.

More importantly, they diverted the attention of the White House from almost all matters not directly related to the impeachment and trial narrative. While there has been a lot of contemporary reporting on the historic advance of Covid-19, there was virtually no reporting at the time. Clearly, the media had been the customer to the Democrat’s political lap dance.

It was not until February 5 that the Senate voted to acquit – and ended the Democrats’ political circus. At that point – thanks to Pelosi, Schiff and Nadler (and the media) – very few people even knew about the Covid-19 virus attacking the world – and certainly not of the potential danger to America.

While it cannot be measured empirically, it can safely be said that the baseless impeachment events took critical attention away from Covid-19 – and most surely, that distraction played a negative role in addressing what was soon to be a pandemic. It at least partially explains why the United States seems to be among the hardest hit nations.

Our civil house was already on fire, but instead of sounding the alarm, the Democrats were playing political games. Not only did Democrats not sound the alarm, but the ensnarement of the White House and the myopic attention of the press prevented anyone else from sounding a timely alarm.

If America was hit worse than it should have been, the Democrats are not without culpability.

So, there ‘tis.
