Did Biden lie about his foreign policy prowess?
Since he has had a lot of opportunities to be involved in foreign policy events and discussions, I suppose it is not a Pinocchio-level lie to brag about it – maybe even exaggerate his roles. But throughout the campaign, Biden repeatedly assured the American people that the handling of foreign policy was one of his strong points. He knew how to deal with the complex world of diplomacy.
Like Trump before him, Biden tended to brag about his relationships with various world leaders. He often mentions the 17,000 miles he traveled with China President Xi Jinping. Of course, that claim got him some real Pinocchios from the Washington Post.
Now that America has entrusted Biden with our foreign affairs, we can see how he is doing. Hmmm. It appears Biden may have flimflammed us with all that reassurance.
There can be no doubt that Biden badly botched the withdrawal from Afghanistan. The White House now contends that such an action was going to be very messy and chaotic. It was unavoidable. That is just the nature of the beast. Nonsense. It was ill-planned, ill-timed, and ill-executed. We never got the Americans out as he promised. We never got the thousands of Afghan friends out as he promised – and he got 13 of America’s finest killed, along with hundreds of Afghans. He once praised a drone strike that actually killed an Afghan aid worker and nine others – including seven children. The withdrawal has upset our allies and cheered our adversaries. Biden has enhanced the power and influence of terrorists across the globe – and consequently significantly reduced our security here and abroad.
China is a major benefactor of the American withdrawal. Xi Jinping has already recognized the Taliban government. He has sent in experts to teach the Taliban how to use all the complex equipment and weaponry Biden left behind. China has promised the Taliban financial support by purchasing valuable nature assets – including very rare and strategically critical minerals.
In addition, China is looking at the possibility of assuming control of Taiwan. Taiwan is not a nation. Still, America has supplied military equipment to Taiwan and has signed a defense treaty. Since the Afghan withdrawal, China has openly mocked the idea that America will defend Taiwan under any circumstances – telling the Taiwanese that they have no dependable friend in Washington. They are probably right.
Biden has done nothing but talk regarding China’s extending sovereignty over the South China Sea. And Biden has yet to reveal how he plans to combat China’s unfair trade practices.
Kim Jong-un has resumed his aggressive military posturing. He has returned to testing intercontinental ballistic missiles. All the agreements Trump had won from Kim are now null and void. Not only does that include the pause in the long-range missile program, but the return of the remains of America’s missing in action and the stopping of supplying terrorist groups in the Middle East with weaponry.
Pakistan has always been a fair-weather friend. Their western regions have long been havens for both al Qaeda and ISIS. It is the country in which Osama bin Ladin was hiding for years. Pakistan government does not see the Taliban as mortal enemies. With the terrorist organization back in control of Afghanistan and the United States exhibiting weakness on the world stage, Pakistan will move further away from the United States.
Despite Biden’s claim that China and Russia would be happy to see America continue in Afghanistan, Beijing and Moscow are celebrating the United States’ loss of power, prestige and influence across the globe. Russia sees American weakness and a green light for meddling in the Middle east in support of Iran and Syria. Thanks to support from the Kremlin, anti-American sentiment will be on the march.
Iran must be absolutely giddy with the Biden foreign policy. They may again get that nuclear agreement that only delays their becoming a nuclear state. They know that Iran can now expand its influence – its sponsorship of terrorism – throughout the Middle East. Will Jordan or Lebanon be the next to fall.
Biden spent a lot of time criticizing Trump for undermining America’s relationship with our NATO allies. But Biden has accomplished something that is unique. He so badly – so ham-handedly – handled the atomic submarine deal with Australia – and so badly angered the French government – that French President Macron has called back the French ambassador to the United States.
It was not just a trip home for consultation, but an official withdrawal of the ambassador – and an expression of anger. That has never been done in the past. The anger is two-fold. Biden did not inform the French ally of the deal – an incredible diplomatic faux pas. The French are also upset because they have been denied the same atomic technology that is now going to Australia. Britain already had the technology, and France had every right to believe that they would be in line for an expansion of the policy.
The southern border
One of the most fundamental international responsibilities of the federal government – and the President — is to manage those who come to America for work, school, touring or permanent status. Border security is existential.
Yet, Biden has not only failed to protect the American border from illegal entrance, but he has also imposed policies and given verbal encouragement to all who wish to come into America for any reason – for a better life or to engage in criminal or terrorist activities.
As a result, the Texas border has been overrun by tens of thousands of migrants. Most have come from Haiti – which has suffered from official corruption, natural disasters, and the assassination of its president. But not all the thousands huddling under a bridge are Haitians. They come for many nations – having first gained sanctuary in Mexico.
One Democrat Congressman called the migrants “human infrastructure” – intimating that they are already part of the American fabric. What Biden has produced at the southern border is the worst immigration and border security issue in the history of the country.
ISIS and al Qaeda
Even though sworn enemies, ISIS and al Qaeda profit greatly from the Biden foreign policy. Their internecine war is merely a distraction from the primary objective the Muslim terrorism – to bring down the United States and western civilization through Jihadist warfare. To some measure, every terrorist organization in the world is stronger today than when Biden took office. The ISIS Califate that Trump defeated and degraded is growing again. Biden’s inept foreign policies have provided recruiting opportunities for all terrorist organizations – the Taliban, ISIS, al Qaeda, Hama, Hizballah, Palestine Liberation Front, al-Shabaab, Boko Haram and the scores more listed by the U.S. State Department.
In a mere eight months, Biden has reduced the economic influence, the military might and the moral authority of the United States across the world. As he so dangerously withdrew American and allied forces from Afghanistan, he is withdrawing America from the pinnacle of world leadership. As he surrendered Afghanistan to the Taliban, Biden is surrendering America to the world leadership of China. Quite a record for a man who has proclaimed himself the Master of International Diplomacy. So, where is the victory in the Biden foreign policy?
So, there ‘tis.
