Dems Plan to blow up “MAGA Deals” if They Retake the House
There has been reporting that Democrats intend to shred so-called “MAGA deals” made by President Trump with big corporations like Paramount, should the retake the House in the November Midterms.
According to Semafor and other outlets, Democratic lawmakers are quietly plotting how hard to go after corporations like Larry Ellison’s Skydance Paramount should they retake the House in November. Those reps have said the time to plan how to wield their power is now, as prediction markets show the party is heavily favored to win control of the House—81 percent on Kalshi, 85 percent on Polymarket—in November.
Specifically, Democratic lawmakers are intent on targeting corporations they allege are courting President Donald Trump just to line their pockets. Semafor writes that “Democrats have sent missives since last year to Paramount, Hewlett-Packard, and Alphabet.”
Those on the Oversight Committee have reportedly “homed in on fundraising for the White House’s ballroom renovation.”
Democratic Rep. Pramila Jayapal, of Washington, told Semafor she will push for anti-monopoly probes into a “few of the worst and focus there.”
Arizona Sen. Ruben Gallego issued a direct threat to CEOs who may have gotten close to the line of legality to curry favor from Trump for controversial business dealings.
“Once we take power, whoever the president is, we’re going to break up your companies,” he told Semafor in a warning to business executives. “So, all the investment you did to create these mergers are going to be for naught. Your investors are going to be pissed at you, and you’re likely going to end up getting fired as the CEO because you wasted so much money and corrupted yourself in the process.”
Gallego may have been referring in part to the Ellison family’s hostile takeover attempt of Warner Bros. Discovery and Hewlett Packard Enterprise’s acquisition of Juniper Networks.
Ellison, who Forbes estimates is worth $189 billion, has gone all in on buttering up Trump to approve a merger that critics say would eliminate competition in Hollywood and streaming.
In addition to a $16 million settlement with Trump over CBS News’ coverage in 2024, which was widely referred to as a “bribe” and “cowardly capitulation” to secure Federal Communications Commission approval, his company also picked the MAGA-curious Bari Weiss to lead CBS News.
Rep. Robert Garcia, the House Oversight panel’s top Democrat, said lawmakers plan to root out any “corruption” between executives and the White House.
“There’s opportunities to look at not just corporations that we think are enabling some of Trump’s corruption,” Garcia told Semafor, “but certainly corporations that are not supporting American families and not really focusing on affordability.”
Semafor also reported that Democratic Rep. Jamie Raskin of Maryland wants to investigate whether Trump has violated the Emoluments Clause of the Constitution, which forbids the president from receiving gifts from taxpayers or foreign governments.
A probe would surely explore the Trump Organization’s $10 billion lawsuit against the IRS and the Treasury Department, which it filed in a federal court in Miami last month, as well as the $400 million jet gifted to the administration by Qatar.
Trump may not be the only one in the administration under investigation come next year. Top Democrats have expressed interest in impeaching Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem after federal immigration agents under her command killed two American citizens.
No doubt the Democrats will oppose anything and everything without regard for the security and prosperity of the country. In a sense it is their job to do this, they are in fact the opposition. Unfortunately, they do not seem to be the “loyal” opposition.
They will not have a super majority so they will not be able to overturn what is already there. But there will likely be very few laws passed and none that favor Trump.

They are not making life better for us, they divide us with their hateful name calling, causing riots, paying for them, as they take us “backwards” out of civilization. They don’t know how to be civil, they have exited civility into chaos and violence to control us, for their excessive hunger for absolute power and absolute power and absolute control over us and our paychecks that are direct deposited into their IRS piggy bank.

They are not alone, and this “feeling” is not the sole ownership of maga, conservatives or liberals.
But they are wrong. Whether right or left, claiming half the country is evil, destroying the county, hate the other half, and will destroy our Constitution and then us, will not improve your lives nor make the country stronger. It’s the opposite, your hate will destroy us.
We have always had right and left, liberal and conservative, Federalist and Antifederalist and the like. Names have changed but not the underlying principles. What changes is how we approach each other. We used to have vigorous, even contentious, debate, following by compromise, a vote and then adherence to the law. Generally, a win-win. These guys want us to choose hate, personal attacks, and win-lose. Guess what guys: on average the blue achieve higher education, make more money, so without us, you are less than half what you got today. That goes for achievement and accomplishment too. And a similar effect is true from the left.
If you guys can’t figure out a peaceful path forward, a path to consensus, compromise, that starts with our vision as documented by the Founders and amended by the people over time, in a process approved by the Founders, then sure as you hate us today, you will have no future for your children.
It is that simple. Survive and thrive together or face your and your children’s demise apart. “Four score and…….” Has never been more true.
You raise a good point, however many, if not most laws do not require a super majority.
Key laws and actions requiring only a simple majority include: Budget Reconciliation, Judicial and Executive Nominations, Cabinet positions and all judicial nominees including Supreme Court, Fast-Track Trade Agreements and much general legislation.
They can’t really toss Executive Orders, but can pass legislation to end or neuter them.
They can also “claw” funding back.
I would hope they save the good like Trump RX, the Trump thingee for kid’s saving, and invading Greenland (just kidding).
Good that you are thinking about this. Reality sucks (sometimes).
Don’t forget that the Dems also will be trying to beat their record two impeachments from Trump’s first presidency.
I wonder how the Republicans will react to Cory’s introduction of “Keep Your Pay Act” to raise the Standard Deduction to $75K for married couples? Really puts them on the hot seat ahead of the midterms!
