Democrats Roll Out Campaign of Lies About Healthcare, GOP, and the Shutdown

House Democrats’ campaign arm is rolling out new ads to pressure Republicans to return to the negotiating table as the 2025 government shutdown is poised to enter its second week.

Democrats have sought to make the ongoing standoff into a healthcare fight, with House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., insisting their caucuses will not vote for a funding bill that does not include an extension of expiring Obamacare subsidies enhanced during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) is investing in a four-figure ad buy across 13 districts where Democrats believe they can hold or flip seats in the 2026 midterms.

The ads point out that “Republicans control the government” and say, “They just shut it down.” The ads in Democrat-held districts say lawmakers there are “protecting affordable health care.”

Three of those districts are held by Republicans, while 10 are held by Democrats.

Before the weekend Congress tried and failed for the fourth time to advance the GOP’s plan to fund federal agencies with a “clean CR” through Nov. 21. A “CR” is an extension of fiscal year (FY) 2025 federal funding levels, which would also include $88 million in security spending for lawmakers, the White House and the judicial branch amid a heightened political threat environment.

Democrats have argued that Americans who rely on the enhanced Obamacare subsidies are in imminent threat of seeing their health care premiums skyrocket if not dealt with in this measure. The Obamacare subsidies were given a temporary enhancement during the COVID-19 pandemic under former President Joe Biden’s American Rescue Plan, and later extended through 2025 under his Inflation Reduction Act.

Republican leaders have said they are willing to discuss reforming and extending the subsidies at a later date, while accusing Democrats of holding the government hostage at the expense of vulnerable Americans who rely on federal services.

“Vulnerable House Republicans shut down the government because they don’t care about working Americans having access to affordable health care,” DCCC spokesperson Nebeyatt Betre told Fox News, the first outlet to report on the Democrat finger-pointing campaign. “While Republicans create a health care crisis, House Democrats will keep working to lower Americans’ health care costs. Make no mistake: vulnerable House Republicans own this shutdown, and the DCCC is making sure voters know who to blame.”

House Republicans’ campaign arm, meanwhile, released an ad earlier this week on the heels of the government shutting down at midnight on Wednesday.

The GOP’s ads, also a four-figure investment, accused Democrats of refusing to “fund the government” at the expense of military paychecks, veterans, farmers, and small businesses.

Republicans have been pointing to Democrats’ counter-proposal for a CR as proof that Democrats are fighting to restore health care for illegal immigrants. The left’s plan called for repealing the health care changes made in the GOP’s “One Big, Beautiful Bill,” which, among other measures, tightened restrictions on who can access Medicaid.

“Out of touch Democrats shut down the government to bankroll handouts for illegal immigrants and appease their radical base. Voters won’t forget who betrayed them, and the NRCC will make sure Democrats pay the price,” NRCC spokesman Mike Marinella told Fox News Digital at the time.

Joe, as I keep saying, you do know that you won the Presidential election, the House, the Senate, and you have a hand-picked majority in the SCOTUS. You own the shop, why can’t you act like it? You need to learn to govern, not rule. You need to learn to listen, not just order. We are full in our rights to not approve a budget. You are the ones to show us that and how to do it. Reap what you sow.

“Democrats have sought to make the ongoing standoff into a healthcare fight.” “Sought?” Gee, Joe, you actually think this is a maybe? Perhaps just some TDS?

Joe, it’s your shop, you are on first, we have said no, the next move is yours and so far, Trump has welcomed the shutdown, so give me a break. He’s even suggesting to not provide furlough back pay, a ludicrous thought as if HE pays them. He’s firing people as if his business is losing money. Psssst, it’s not a business Don, it’s the government. You don’t have to let people go because you have a revenue shortfall (you would think the guy with the yugest deficit in history would know that).

“Republican leaders have said they are willing to discuss reforming and extending the subsidies at a later date, while accusing Democrats of holding the government hostage at the expense of vulnerable Americans who rely on federal services.”
Yeah, like we can trust you, wink, wink, nudge, nudge. Is there a contract for this? Timeline?

Marjorie Taylor Greene is on board with us, what we say makes sense to her for her constituency.
Republican Representative from PA Brian Fitzpatrick is on board with us, what we say makes sense for his constituency.
GOP Sen. Mike Rounds, in South Dakota backs the idea.

Sen. Tommy Tuberville, R-Ala., called on his party to consider an ACA funding extension, but he said the cost of a long-term fix is a concern. (that makes the most sense to me, oh my, I agree with the idiot from tuberland.

Republican Sen. John Cornyn said he’s open to modifying the thresholds. .

Sen. Thom Tillis, R-N.C., said: “there’s a question about whether or not it’s the current program straight up, or some modification to get Republicans on board.” (sounds like an adult plan).

OK, we have ObamaCare and it works. I would love to see it replaced by a better plan. In 2000, 84% of Americans had health insurance. In 2010, with Obamacare, we moved to 88% and for the last ten years have been over 90%. Under Biden, we reached 92% of all Americans covered, the highest ever in American history.

The effect of the Trump cuts means a 300% increase in a number of states for those currently covered with ObamaCare tax credits for health insurance. Amazingly, the states most affected are the states having the most growth in insurance. If you are in these states, and if you use Obamacare credits, or know people who do, you and they are screwed as prices increase multiple times, up to 300%. The states are: Texas (expects subsidized enrollments to crash with a 50% loss of subscribers), Florida (Joe, Larry’s and Earnest’s state where they too got lots of growth and can expect a huge loss of insured), Georgia, Mississippi (99% of ACA enrollees use enhanced tax credits, MS is screwed royal), Louisiana, Tennessee, South Carolina, West Virginia, and North Carolina. If you live here, and use the ACA credits or have friends that do, stand up and say something — tell your Congresspeople to fight for you, and yours.

Here we go, from KFF, increases on average for ACA tax credit beneficiaries will double. But on a state basis, you might see over 300%. Here’s the map, by state, by voting district on how bad the price increase will be: *https://www.kff.org/affordable-care-act/congressional-district-interactive-map-how-much-will-aca-premium-payments-rise-if-enhanced-subsidies-expire/*
You be the judge. I am in NJ, have Medicare plus private insurance, it’s far cheaper than when I worked, rest of family is covered by work, no issues. But I do know folks using the credits and I care. No one should lose health insurance in America. No one should be without health insurance and lose their wealth, home, just because they got sick. It is not a right, but we should make it so. Just like most modern nations do. I would love to see a better alternative to ObamaCare, but after 5 years of you guys, don’t think you can do it. Dropping us below 90% coverage brings back the horrors of the healthcare 80’s. And for what? Because you can’t cut back on defense, deportations, funding Argentina for $20B, or maybe just tap Trump’s crypto slush fund. But not healthcare for America’s working poor. MAGA, not Argentina.

The polling on this, does not matter which party, favors keeping the extensions.

Nope Joe, you own it. Fix it. It matters

Hope that helps clarify your apparent confusion of what and why this is happening and why most of America (both parties), many of your Republican leaders, agree in a bipartisan manner on this. You sir, are in the minority. Perhaps a good public information ad is exactly what you need.

Twenty two million Americans use ObamaCare tax credits; 24 million use ObamaCare. That’s getting close to 10% of America and I guarantee that’s higher in Red states and lower in Blue states.

Florida and Texas have the highest number of residents who use Affordable Care Act (ACA) tax credits. In states like Florida, Mississippi, and Texas, more than 95% of marketplace enrollees receive ACA tax credits, which help make health coverage more affordable. If I was partisan on this, I would say “fuck em if they can’t take a joke.” But I don’t get my rocks off simply by making the other side come undone. They do a better job of in themselves.

Only someone who does not use ObamaCare credits and does not like anyone who does would be against what the Democrats are doing. Or complete assholes. Even a number of Republican leaders, like MTG, agree with Democrats on this one. Polling say most Americans, most Republicans agree with Democrats on this one.
