Democrats are still the anti-police party

As a preamble to this commentary, we should be able to agree that the vast majority of police throughout America provide outstanding protective services to the people.  They are not the belligerent gun-happy characters Democrats on the left and their media cronies make them out to be.  The vast majority of police never discharge their guns outside the practice ranges. They are more often the victims of criminal attacks than they are the perpetrators.  The rogue cops are few and far between.

However …

… only the most ardent partisan Democrat would attempt to deny the fact that the Democratic Party is anti-police … period.

The Democratic Party has long had a bias against police and policing.  The modern anti-police culture arguably started on the left during the 1960s.  At the time, there were legitimate concerns about police racism and brutality – ironically found mostly in the Democrat-controlled cities with large, segregated minority populations.   And even that negativism against police was the domain of the less powerful radical left within the Party.

Over the years, it has evolved into a major policy point for Democratic politicians.  It reached an apex with the defund the police movement in recent years.  While Democrat politicians have tried to distance themselves from the irrationality of eliminating policing as crime rises to epidemic proportions, the anti-police bias remains part of the Democrat DNA.

The most radical left-wing faction of the Democratic Party still calls for the defunding of police departments.  It takes different forms.  In the extreme, they want to seriously eliminate the policing function and replace it with a form of a social welfare agency.  They seem to believe that criminals can be talked out of proceeding with a crime by talk.

(You only need to recall that the police in Uvalde, Texas tried talking to the shooter – calling him “sir” and asking him politely to put down his gun so no more people would get hurt.  The response was more shots and more dead children.)

Other forms of defunding involve the reduction in money for basic police functions.  They call it “re-imagining policing.”

Some Democrats – like President Biden – express their opposition to defunding – but there is a hitch.  Biden has proposed federal legislation to fund police work.  BUT … if you check out that actual legislation, much of the funding is for social work.

The Democrats’ war on policing is more than funding.  They focus on virtually every violent arrest or killing as a police failure. They promote legal action against officers.  Democrats have advanced a false narrative of pandemic police racism across the country.

Democrat mayors have ordered police to stand down as rioters vandalize, burn and loot – often attacking police equipment and officers without response.  In Portland, rioters were allowed to take over a police headquarters for weeks and the Democrat mayor said the occupation was like a street festival.

Democrat officials have passed laws reducing or eliminating the pursuit of criminals.  In some jurisdictions, police are not allowed to chase fleeing criminals.  Democrat district attorneys – abusing prosecutorial discretion – refuse to prosecute crimes they inappropriately declare to be non-violent – including shoplifting, looting, theft and mugging.  Even with more serious crimes like drug dealing, rape, attempted murder, and even murder, the perpetrators are released as fast as they are arrested – demoralizing police.

The man who attacked the Republican candidate for New York Governor got released without bond in a few hours.  Two illegal aliens who smuggled millions of dollars worth of Fentanyl were released on no bond – and have now disappeared. That is because Democrats passed the law that freed them.

Those who are commissioned to protect the southern border for illegal entry are prevented by Democrat policies to do more than play the welcome wagon – even though they see the crime that is visited on border communities and in other locations across America.  They are not able to vet the migrants in the search for bad hombres.

Democrats have called for the abolition of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) — the one agency that tracks down alien criminals.  Democrat officials have ordered their local police and sheriff departments not to cooperate with ICE by handing over alien criminals. Democrat administrations have further frustrated police work by establishing “sanctuary” cities and counties.

More police are resigning – and there are insufficient applicants to fill the vacancies.  That is especially true in the high crime cities were more police are sorely needed.

Every police killing, no matter how justified, subjects police to public scorn … tedious administration polices … and law suits.  Truer if the criminal is black.  Consequently, Police are reluctant to track down criminals … engage in personal contact … or use potentially lethal force even when necessary.  The quality of policing declines and the rate of crime increases.

Democrat anti-police policies over many years and over broad stretches of America have undermined effective police enforcement.  The results should have been obvious.  The depletion of the ranks and the intimidation against police has resulted in an unprecedent rise in crime of every kind in every community.

Most folks have high regard for their local police.  In high crime areas – especially in the minority communities – there are calls for more policy, real policing – not the feel-good pseudo policing that Democrats are offering.  Things will not change, however, until we get rougher on the criminals than we are on the police.

Seeing some of these left-wing Democrat prosecutors being recalled or thrown out of office by the voters is a good sign.  It is time for law and order – and that requires professional policing.  Next time you see a cop, thank him or her for their service.

So, there ‘tis.

I am a Democrat. I am a liberal. My first ride along in support of the police was when I was 17. I wrote a nice piece for the high school paper supporting the police.

In 1994, Bill Clinton, with support of Joe Biden, passed the crime bill, which among other things put over 100,000 new police on the streets. It appears that Larry conveniently forgot that.

At its core, defund the police is not about putting less police on the street, it’s about re-engineering policing. A terrible term, it does not mean reducing the number police on the street, it means re-organizing policing so that police are not doing social work and focusing more on doing police work instead of social work.

Of course, Democrats are against police brutality, police racism, and other violations of the law.

Larry is politicking, it’s the midterms and how do you say anxious. So it must be time to roll out the old trope: soft on crime, I am sure he’s working up the “welfare state” tome talking about welfare mothers Buying lobsters with their snap payments to eat in front of their large screen TVs..

Democrats are against anything that holds people accountable

  3. JOSH

ALL BS!!!!! DEMOCRATS ARE FOR POLICE! ITS WAS THE REPUBLICAN PRESIDENT WHO LET HIS FOLLOWERS BASH THEIR HEADS IN! STOP WITH THE LIES!

    • Ben

Josh I know that’s a damned lie. Your party of communists are leading the charge to defund and abolish the police. Get your facts straight before you look like even more of an idiot

      • Ben

Most Democrats that are in congress do not want to defund the police. Very few want to abolish the police. It’s the lying fascist Republicans that like to spread a broad brush from a few people. I would say get your facts straight before you look like an idiot, but that ship has passed.

        • Larry kuhn

No. It’s the lying fascist democrats and their commie minions You said most democrats. Why ain’t the ones not supporting defunding the police reining in the ones want to? You people are full of shit and you know it.

          • Ben

Look short dick, quit spewing bullshit and actually show us something. Who are you talking about? Which Democrats? Which ones need to get rained in? What a pile of crap. Has congress defunded the police? Fuck, Congress can’t even defund the police, it’s a local issue. What a bonehead

  4. Randy

Democrats are FOR police? Have you been in a coma for the last 2 years? BLM riots everywhere, fully supported by the demorats right up to both Biden and Harris, with Harris running her own bail fund for the criminals that were burning and looting city after DEMOCRAT-RUN city. Nothing but criminal worshiping and police bashing out of the useless demorats. Ask stacey abrams what she wants to do with police departments. Ask the ridiculous California governor. The whole democrat party has lost its mind due to its weakness and hatred of this great country.
November can’t get here soon enough. Throw these America-hating clowns out!!!

  5. Larry kuhn

Hey dumbass. Local police get federal funding to some extent. And I agree that many democrats don’t mention the police. But their silence is deafening when they don’t rebuke those that do. The bitch squad has mentioned it during commie party rallies. Again, no call out by their comrades. And I don’t think that the blm scum are registered republicans. Is it republicans that turn their backs on the police and release violent felons with no bail? Figure it out you idiot

    • Jesse

Ben WHEN trump is re-elected will you promise to leave the country like several of your comrades have said they are? Start a go fund me. I’ll contribute.

  6. Ben

Hey, monkeypox Hawley sissy boy, local police are not funded by the federal government. However, there are grants out there starting about 1994 with the fantastic Clinton crime bill, you know the one where Democrats invested big in police forces. But these are grants, not yearly budgets, and they are not used for standard operating costs, but instead for special programs the federal government would like to see at the local level. Matter fact, often they are kind of a boat anchor and that the grant exists, and then the next year it doesn’t meaning the police are left holding the bag. You can actually learn something about funding if you take the time to look it up. Jfgi.

And I know how you hate the concept of numbers, but we’re talking about around 10% here per year. The vast majority of the funding, 90%, comes from state and local taxes. Really don’t think the federal government is gonna pass a grant to defund the police, and I really don’t think a loss of 10% would be defunding the police. Perhaps you do, but you’re as dumb as a brick. I apologize to the brick. I would avoid all the silly name-calling, but you seem to like it.

Jesse: why would I leave my country? You know the people that say they never do. In the 60s, I would not go to Canada, but would’ve gone to jail for the draft. In the 70s, I wouldn’t leave the country for that cheater Nixon, but I was willing to spend months marching in front of the White House on Pennsylvania Avenue. If Trump does get elected, and he goes on his for your revenge tour, I will still be here, and I will still be speaking out and protesting against him. But, he is going to take all of your donor money and steal it so what the fuck do I care. The best thing you can do is have Mitch McConnell impeach him and get him out of all of our hair once in forever.

  7. Jesse

Why the interest in Larry kuhn’s dick? Are you queer?

  8. Ben

Is that important to you to know? I wonder why. Chumming the waters again? Or are you bi; jesse the boy or jesse the girl. Oh fuck, just tell us the truth how you favor sheep love. Baaaaahd boy you are.

    • Eric

You wouldn’t turn anything down except little boys. And you’d turn them face down

  9. Ben

Sounds like another voice of experience, another Trumplicant pervert with gay fantasy fixations. You folks are really preoccupied with man love. It’s all you talk about.

    • Jesse

You’re the one who mentioned dicks

  10. Ben

And that got you really excited, didn’t it.

    • Jesse

No. I don’t focus on other men’s dicks

As the phone wiping for 1/6 spreads from the Secret Service over to the top echelon of the Pentagon one can only wonder: is this business as usual for departing employees or is this something more sinister in the realm of conspiracy. The fact that the trouble pointed watchdog in the Secret Service, via email, formally ended any investigation further muddies the water. I don’t know if the government records law extends to cell phones and text messages, but if it does, we got trouble, right here in Trump River city.

  1. What, Larry? With Election Day so close and the margin is closer still you choose Biden for your whipping person…
