David Ignatius: Biden needs to go

David Ignatius, a Washington Post columnist and MSNBC “Morning Joe” regular, penned a column that has sent shockwaves through the political left.  He said that President Biden should not run for a second term.  He later reiterated his opinion on … “Morning Joe.”

To understand the reaction, you have to know that Ignatius is one of the cardinals of left-wing theology.  He has dutifully carried every leftwing political narrative that has come out of the Biden White House.  Conversely, he has been a consistent attack dog on all things Trump, Republican and conservative.

In his column, Ignatius praises Caesar.  He lists many of what the White House and those on the left see uniquely as Biden accomplishments.  He then brushes them aside to explain why Biden should NOT seek reelection.

Ignatius’ focus is on President Trump.  He sees defeating Trump in 2020 as Biden’s primary goal and most notable potential success.  Ignatius believes that defeating Trump to save the Republic is the ONLY issue to be considered – and apparently he does not believe Biden can do it again.  Ignatius says that “Running for reelection would risk undoing his greatest achievement — which was stopping Donald Trump”.

Ignatius says that Biden is facing “two liabilities”.  The most obvious is his age.  He says that Biden is “no longer the garrulous glad-hander I met when I first covered Congress more than four decades ago.”

More specifically, Ignatius wrote:

“Biden’s age isn’t just a Fox News trope; it’s been the subject of dinner-table conversations across America this summer. His performance at times has been halting and uncertain. His decision-making process has been slow and secretive. His advisers have sometimes seemed more eager to protect him than to challenge him.”

The second liability is Vice President Harris.  Ignatius sees her as both a liability to a Biden reelection – and unsuitable as a successor.  Of Harris, he wrote:

“Kamala Harris has not helped his cause. She has been a loyal and hardworking partner, but she has failed to connect with the public or inspire confidence as a potential successor. Her approval rating is lower than Biden’s, and she trails several Republican contenders in hypothetical matchups.”

As a summation, Ignatius says that Biden should make way for “a new generation of leaders who can offer fresh ideas and energy …”

Ignatius believes that Biden “should announce asap that he will not seek reelection” since it will soon be past the time for any successor to mount a campaign.

In Ignatius’ mind, dropping out “would enhance [Biden’s] stature as a statesman who put the nation’s interests above his own.” It would also “deprive Trump of his favorite foil and force him to face a different opponent who might expose his weaknesses more effectively”.

During Ignatius appearance on “Morning Joe” co-host Mika Brzezinski was apoplectic over the Washington Post column.  She not only said she completely disagrees with Ignatius but that she has never been more disappointed in the newspaper.

In expressing his concern, Ignatius is unintentionally helping Trump by giving credibility to the belief that the former President is a viable candidate and can beat Biden in a rematch.  That makes the Ignatius’ column puzzling in view of his myopic interest in defeating Trump.

Although the White House has not officially commented on the Ignatius column, sources say that pulling out of the race is not a topic of conversation around the Oval Office – and that Democrats have not coalesced around any other candidate.  At this point, the odds still favor a redux of the 2020 presidential election.

So, there ‘tis.

As long as it’s legal, I guess he can run. I would think Horist would be overjoyed he’s running.

I, for one, will not vote for him in the primary. But I will vote for him nationally if that’s the choice.

I have always said I am not a fan of Hunter’s personality, but I like Joe’s policies. As Ignatius notes, he’s got a lot done.

    • Dan tyree

You like Joe’s policies? You really are stupid.

      • frank stetson

ah, you are good with the ice breakers Dan-o.

      • Joseph S. Bruder

Don’t know and don’t care who David Ignatious is… just one in a multitude of ignorant jackasses who make money writing controversial opinions.

He sees Biden’s biggest achievement as defeating Trump. He’s missed a few others:
        – The American Rescue Plan:
        – 500M vaccinations in the first year
        – 73% of adults fully vaccinated, 63%of eligible population fully vaccinated
        – lowest rate of child poverty EVER, but Republicans have killed the program
        – passed the $1.2B Infrastructure bill
        – cancelled $10-20K of student debt for 800,000 borrowers
        – 3.8% unemployment, the longest period of 18M to 2M
        – 6 million jobs created, the most of any President EVER
        – passed the Inflation Reduction Act:
        – capped drug prices to <$2000 for Medicare
        – gave Medicare the ability to negotiate drug prices
        – set minimum corporate tax of 15%
        – reduced health care premiums by $800
        – 5M people got health care who didn't have it before
        – inflation coming under control, economy in soft landing
        – rejoined the Paris Climate Agreement
        – took us out of failed war in Afghanistan, saving $300M per DAY
        (after Trump botched the negotations)
        – gathered NATO and world support to help Ukraine and set severe economic sanctions on Russia
        – signed the CHIPs act to increase manufacturing of key components in the US
        – boosted IRS budget by $80B to reduce tax evasion, increase revenue, and improve service
        – more judges confirmed than any President since Kennedy
        – more minorities in his Cabinet and appointed as judges than any other President
        – more investment in clean water, air, and energy than any other President
        – passed the PACT Act, to address service members’ exposure to burn pits and other toxins.

        Meanwhile,
        – Republicans are trying to impeach Biden, even though they don't have a scrap of evidence of any crime other than "we just know he did something, so we'll torture Hunter for as long as possible" (but heaven-forbid they look at the billions received by Trump's evil spawn).
        – And they're still talking about "Hunter's Laptop", even though it has turned out to be a modified Russian clone from stolen data
        – They are seriously considering breaking the funding deal and shutting down the government.
        – By the way, US backed securities have already been downgraded by Moody's precisely because the Republican House is a shit-show.
        – Attacking women's rights by trying to outlaw abortion, but despite their self-proclaimed "pro-life" label, there are dozens of ways that Republicans cut funding for childrens programs
        – Republican-led states have the lowest levels of education, most health problems, lowest pay scales, highest crime rates, and highest rates of welfare.
        – Speaking of welfare, Democrat-led states pay more to the federal government, while Republican states are deadbeat "takers"
        – Notable Republicans:
        – of course, while Republicans are criticising gays for lack of family values, one of the Republican "leaders" gets thrown out of a theater for blowing vape-smoke at a pregnant woman (plus it's illegal to vape inside a public building) and filming the performance (also illegal) and being apparently drunk and disorderly and then there's this:
        https://www.meidastouch.com/news/boebert-appeared-to-fondle-dates-penis-in-packed-theater-as-she-put-his-hand-on-her-breasts
        – There's pedophile Matt Gaetz, who was using a student Republican group to recruit underaged girlfriends
        – Almost-pedophile "Coach" Jim Jordan, who turned a blind eye to his team doctor who molested hundreds of student athletes
        – The other "Coach" Tommy Tuberville, who is crippling the military by holding up promotions
        – The animatronic corpse of Mitch McConnell, which has developed a software glitch and freezes during press conferences
        – Just Plain-Fucking-Nuts Marjorie Talylor Greene, who takes the far right looney tunes side of every issue
        – the leading candidate for 2024 Presidency has 4 indictments with 91 felonies

Yes, Biden is the oldest President in History. He also has more experience than any other President in history with a long career as a lawyer, Senator, Vice President, and now President, and his Presidential record of accomplishments prove it. He has occasional verbal gaffes that get pounced on by the press (he was always a stutterer, and anyone who works as hard as he does occasionally gets distracted) but he has shown that he's still sharp enough to out-negotiate McCarthy and other Republicans. He's gotten more done in half a term than most Presidents have in 2 terms. And he could literally run rings around most of the Republicans campaiging for 2023 – let's see Donald "Lardbutt" Hoover Trump hop on a bicycle (if he can even find one that will hold his weight).

        • Dan tyree

Thanks Joseph. You made me more proud to be a Republican

          • Joseph S. Bruder

So… you’re proud to be in the Party of chaos? That can’t govern a state for shit? That is populated by bomb-throwers and hypocrites, whose leader is a serial liar, life-long criminal, and who attacked our Constitution and democracy itself? The Party that openly supports right wing Nazis, misogyny, and racism?

Well, if we didn’t know before, it’s pretty clear what kind of idiot you are. Luckily, you are in the minority.

        • Frank stetson

Ignatius is a good writer; the piece is spot on except he notes no one on tap, but still thinks Biden should step down. Wrong. Too late

IMO, Biden should have passed the torch himself. Picked his successor. Too late now too and I really thought he could get by the lust for power versus country and party. Coulda been like Washington, now he’ll just be the old gaffer.

I’ve always said I wouldn’t vote for him in the primary, but his policies are better so I will vote for him in the national. Plus, kinda hard to self vote for revenge and retribution against my party. That would be simple.

I got an idea; you drop trump and I’ll drop Biden. Too late; your guy would run as a sexual abuser digital rapist indicted four times with 90’outdtanding charges. Can’t bestctgat. .

          • Dan tyree

Who said I’m voting for Trump in the primary? Probably not. But if he gets the nomination? HELL YES!!!!! And you can vote for slow joe. His mental decline will have him bragging about grabbing Tara Reid’s pussy. And his creepy actions around children.

          • frank stetson

Dan, give it a rest, you are acting like a junk yard dog, Tara Reid is not EJ Carroll who took Trump to civil court where he was fund liable for sexual abuse, but not rape. Should I drag out Trump raping Ivana before she mysteriously died by falling down a flight of stairs?

I find Republican’s needs to “level the scandal” pond funny as they tout Tara Reid against EJ Carroll; Biden’s < 35 documents against Trump's 35 boxes of documents, Biden crime family against Trump's actual business crimes, and so on and so on living by the adage, whatever Trump does, I can blame Biden for more. You just can't prove it and I have actual court cases…..

When your brilliant Trump countersued on the rape for defamation, the judge, on the record, tossed the case stating Trump was not guilty, by NY Law of RAPE, a law which requires penis penetrations , but was guilty as sin of "digital" rape, as in fingers penetration of the penis, according to the facts presented in court. Tara Reid did not win this type of judgement, by her peers, of Biden as Carroll did against Trump.

Trump's other dalliance of Stormy Daniels might be detailed during his Hush Money case in NY where he boinked her as Melania gave birth to Barron. Sweet guy. Very caring.

Biden has not been found guilty or liable of anything, yet. Trump is a twice-impeached, 4 times indicted, sex abuser, digital rapist, as adjudicated in civil court who has never won a popular vote. According to you Biden is a senile, stuttering, old man who falls down a lot. He is also the criminal mastermind head of the Biden crime family that has eluded any Republican attempt to prove because, like you, they are dumber than bricks bringing a flipping farmer and a pedophile wrestling coach to fight their legal battle against Biden. What could go wrong with that?

We have followed both of these men for decades. One has been in court his entire life, found guilty or liable many times, settled for huge sums many more times. The other guy has rarely, if ever, been to court, and never found guilty or liable ever. Now in you bloodlust for equal charges, you have launched a impeachment inquiry to catch Joe based on Hunter. You can't even get a House vote to hold the inquiry which has been done, one time after the announcement, but done, every time there has been an inquiry. You had to change the normal convention, rules if you will, to get your way. That's the strength of your case.

  2. Darren

It does not bother Frank that the Biden’s do have to pay Taxes.
Can Extort money from foreign Country’s, not to mention just plane F up our country.
Maybe Frank needs to move to Mexico, but only after Trump finishes the wall.

  3. frank stetson

Darren says: “It does not bother Frank that the Biden’s do have to pay Taxes.” You got that right buddy. Matter of fact, is does not bother me that the Biden’s pay for Christmas gifts either.

Joe Biden has not extorted money from foreign countries that you can prove. And you mean plain, not plane. Your AI is slipping.

And nah, I’m not leaving until Trump starts the persecution for real.

    • Dan tyree

The only reason that retard joe got a pass is because of corruption in the courts and media. I know that you think Biden’s asshole is lined with gold but you’re too fucking stupid to see that it’s not. You simply don’t understand the endgame plan of the leftist bastards oh whom you are chief

      • frank stetson

Are you crying in your beer again, whiner boy? Come on man, you’re backing a guy who broke all sorts of rules, his entire life, spent us into the poorhouse in 4 short years, promises revenge and retribution if given a chance and the power, loves Putin and Un, the evil twins, and is a sexual abuser “digital” rapist who is already guilty of business fraud, a number of times, and is coming back to do it again.

You sent your army to steal the election and we put them in jail for up to 22 years each. Now we are climbing the ladder to see how close to the top we can get. Most of these criminals are still waiting to see if Trump will free the convicted, guilty, pieces of shit like he let Jared’s father out, then sheriff joe, mike flynn, pappadouchealis, stone, and manafort, all convicted criminals and Trump hit men that did not deserve one day off their sentences.

Law and order party my sweet ass.

You spend your time in your feckless pursuit of Biden theft for tens of millions when Jared got $2,000,000,000 from the murdering Saudi Prince, a portion of which will probably be funneled to Trump or TrumpCo. You idiots spend your time looking for Biden bucks while you miss $2B in thank-you money right in front of your eye’s.

And like the baby you are, when you can’t win, you blame the courts, FBI, DOJ, and a partridge in a pear tree. Cry me a river. And the crying will only get worse.

        • Dan tyree

I break the rules too. I’ll never be governed by commiecrats. And I’ll gladly face whatever. I’ve been an outlaw all my life and I’m not changing now. And you cocksuckers are in for a rude awakening because people are starting to get their heads out of their asses. And I’m not agitated at all. My give a shitter ain’t broke. I’ve never owned one

  4. frank stetson

dan, What “commiecrat” rule have you ever broken?

    • Dan tyree

      All of the above

      • Frank stetson

Figures you can’t name one democrat law that you break

        Big talker, fake boasts. .

  5. frank stetson

Dan calls Joe a retard, a liar, but he boasts of being an outlaw but can’t come up with the laws broken he boasts about.

Seems he has difficulty remembering things, or is fabricating stories about himself, or both.

Been a day and over a dozen Dan posts, but backing up his claim: crickets.

    • Dan tyree

      Frank if you only knew

  6. Frank stetson

You can boast, but you seem afraid to tell.

Is it you being trans in a red state?

    Or

Because you follow all laws made possible by democrats.

    • Dan tyree

      If you only knew
