Democratic Presidential nominee Hillary Clinton has picked former Virginia Governor and current Virginia Senator Tim Kaine as her running mate.
Tim Kaine is a popular career politician, who progressed from Mayor of Richmond to Lieutenant Governor of Virginia, to Governor, to U.S. Senator. Mrs. Clinton has noted he has “never lost an election”. He is a graduate of Harvard Law School.
Kaine may be a good choice for Clinton since Virginia is considered a swing state. As a former Chair of the Democratic National Committee, Kaine may also bring substantial fundraising resources to the Clinton Campaign.
This selection angered some former Bernie Sanders supports since Kaine is a supporter of the Trans Pacific Partnership trade agreement.
“An establishment Wall Street Democrat like Tim Kaine … will do nothing but confirm to progressives she’s learned nothing from this primary,” said Jordan Chariton of the Sanders-supporting online talk show “The Young Turks.”
According to a Newmax article, Kaine’s “crimebusting” past may hurt him with the black vote. His past strategies for fighting crime have driven up the prison population and have been very unpopular in the black community. Kaine was a vocal supporter of Project Exile. According to Wikipedia, Project Exile is a federal program started in Richmond, Virginia in 1997. Project Exile shifted the prosecution of illegal technical gun possession offenses to federal court, where they carried a mandatory minimum sentence of five years in federal prison under the federal Gun Control Act of 1968, rather than in state court.
Donald Trump texted to supporters, “Tim Kaine is Hillary’s VP pick, the ultimate insiders — Obama, Hillary, and Kaine.
Editor’s note: This guy has always reminded me of the Joker on Batman (Jack Nicholson version). But he is probably more qualified to be President than Hillary, and as far as we know has not committed as many crimes.
