An alarming statistic has just been released: according to a recent report by the CIS (Center for Immigration Studies), an estimated 2.5 million individuals have illegally crossed into the US during Obama’s presidency. ;

Nearly 800,000 of those 2.5 million hopped the border in the past two and a half years. This information comes from an analysis based on census and immigration data, so the estimation could be – and probably is – lower than the real number. ;

“While the level of new illegal immigration is lower than a decade ago, the enormous ongoing scale of illegal immigration is a clear indication that the United States has not come close to controlling it,” says the CIS. ;

Under the Obama Administration’s policies, illegal immigrants are basically home free once they cross the border. For the average immigrant, his or her “odds of getting deported are close to zero,” says ;John Sandweg, former director of ICE (US Immigtaion and Customs Enforcement).

Sanctuary cities, where even criminal illegal immigrants can hide from ICE, make the situation worse. These 300+ local and state jurisdictions refuse to lock up criminal illegals that have been pegged for deportation by ICE. ;

San Francisco is facing harsh criticism for releasing a known criminal illegal – despite protests from ICE – who went on to murder 32-year-old Kathryn Steinle as she walked along a city pier. ;Many Republicans hope to pass a bill that will block grant money from sanctuary cities and from any law-enforcement agencies that follow similar policies. ;

“Municipalities that refuse to cooperate with federal immigration laws simply should not receive the Department of Justice’s assistance funding,” wrote Alabama Senator Richard Shelby. “The freedoms we enjoy – like strolling on a San Francisco pier with our children – are possible only when we are willing to enforce the federal laws that keep our families and our freedoms safe.” ;
