
<p>As reported by <em>The Washington Times</em>, a Chinese billionaire who aided the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) in covert operations against the United States has been linked to Hunter Biden. ;</p>



<p>As detailed in documents and emails obtained from the infamous laptop that Hunter abandoned at a repair shop in Delaware in 2019, billionaire Ye Jianming made large cash payments to the Biden family while he served as chairman of the CEFC China Energy Company Limited.</p>



<p>Hunter is said to have met with Mr. Ye and other executives from CEFC in December 2015 and later agreed to arrange a series of “introductions” in exchange for $10 million per year. Hunter also accepted $1 million to represent CEFC official Patrick Ho, who was later charged in the US and sentenced to three years in prison for his attempts to bribe officials in Chad and Uganda to acquire oil permits for CEFC. Ho is also believed to have offered to help Iran evade oil sanctions in exchange for permits. </p>



<p><em>Keep in mind the agreements with CEFC were signed during a time period in which Hunter was struggling with drug addiction and failing to keep up with child support and credit card debt following a messy divorce. </em></p>



<p>In 2017, Hunter met with Ye in Miami to discuss a $40 million joint venture in which CEFC would assist in the production of liquefied national gas in Louisiana. Though the deal would ultimately fail, Ye sent Hunter a thank you card for his time along with a 2.8-carat diamond worth $80,000. </p>



<p>Later that year as he sought to establish a Biden-CEFC office in Washington, DC, Hunter described Ye as &#8220;his partner.&#8221; Unfortunately for Hunter, that venture was also destined to fail.</p>



<p><strong>While we have yet to find proof that President Joe Biden benefitted from or was even aware of Hunter’s dealings with CEFC, the situation certainly raises questions about business ethics, national security, and legal exposure. ;</strong></p>



<p><em>“It’s all about access and influence, and if you can compromise someone with both access and influence, that’s even better,” notes former FBI assistant director for counterintelligence, Frank Figliuzzi. “Better still if that target has already compromised himself.”</em></p>



<p>Through careful examination and analysis of the information contained on Hunter&#8217;s laptop, it was recently discovered that Ye used his energy earnings to fund a front used by “Base 311” &#8211; a unit of the PLA that specializes in psychological warfare, public opinion warfare, and legal warfare. Base 311 has since expanded its scope to include cyber warfare and military space operations and has even been linked to Chinese efforts to influence the 2018 election in Taiwan. ;</p>



<p>“It also appeared that Base 311 conducts research on the informational environment in the United States…[including] the potential effects of legislation passed to fight propaganda [and] the role of social media in American political life,” explains author and Chinese military expert Paul Charon. ;</p>



<p>Ye also served as deputy secretary general for another PLA front group called the “Shanghai Association for International Friendly Contact” and worked briefly as adviser to Czech Republic President Miloš Zeman. In the latter role, Ye successfully influenced the Czech Republic’s opinion of China including a reconsideration of the value of the Dalai Lama. ;</p>



<p>After spending time with Ye, President Zeman would go on to describe China’s controversial Belt and Road Initiative as “the most fascinating project of modern history&#8221; and was the only Western leader to attend Beijing’s major military parade in 2015. ;</p>



<p><em>Ye was arrested in 2018 and accused of “economic crimes” including fraud and bribery (he hasn’t been seen in public since</em>). <em>CEFC was declared bankrupt in 2020. ;As noted by the </em>Times<em>, Ye’s payments to the Biden family are currently the subject of a federal investigation in the US. ;</em></p>
