Chicago Democrat Wants to Abolish History Class

<p class&equals;"p1"><span class&equals;"s1">Illinois State Rep&period; La Shawn Ford &lpar;D-8th District&rpar; is calling to end history classes in his state and replace the current curriculum with more &OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;accurate” information&period; <&sol;span><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p class&equals;"p1"><span class&equals;"s1">&OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;I’m calling for the abolishment of history classes in Illinois&comma;” announced Ford on Sunday&period; &OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;We’re concerned that current school history teachings lead to white privilege and a racist society&period;”<&sol;span><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p class&equals;"p1"><span class&equals;"s1">Speaking at the Robert Crown Center in Evanston&comma; Ford said that a new teaching method could &OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;end racism&comma; discrimination&comma; and white privilege&period;” What current history books teach us is that white people are superior in a land that belongs to all of us&comma; continued Ford&comma; a land that shouldn&&num;8217&semi;t be reserved for white men and women&period; <&sol;span><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p class&equals;"p1"><span class&equals;"s1">&OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;Women have a right to also be included in the history books in the right way&comma; and not just included here and there&comma;” he added&period; <&sol;span><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p class&equals;"p1"><span class&equals;"s1">Ford supports House Bill 4954&comma; which seeks to revolutionize how history is taught in the state of Illinois&period; No matter where you are from&comma; your history will be accurately accounted for in Illinois&comma; promised Ford&period;<&sol;span><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p class&equals;"p1"><span class&equals;"s1">Ford called on the Illinois Board of Education to &OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;end the teaching of history” and urged local school districts to &OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;take immediate action by removing the current history books and curriculum practices that unfairly communicate our history until a suitable alternative is developed&period;”<&sol;span><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p class&equals;"p1"><span class&equals;"s1">In the meantime&comma; schools should &OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;devote greater attention towards civics and ensure students understand our democratic process and how they can be involved&period;”<&sol;span><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p class&equals;"p1"><span class&equals;"s1">Ford went on to describe &OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;getting our history right” as an issue that can unite Republicans&comma; Democrats&comma; and Independents&period; <&sol;span><span class&equals;"s1">&OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;A person that understands the true history of the…Confederate flag wouldn’t really fly that flag because they would understand the pain and hurt&comma;” he added&period;<&sol;span><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p class&equals;"p1"><span class&equals;"s1">When asked how Illinois would pay for new history books&comma; Ford suggested that current book manufactures issue &OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;refunds” for &OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;all the years that the school districts have spent money to buy inaccurate textbooks” and called on the state’s AG to investigate the possibility&period; <&sol;span><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p class&equals;"p1"><span class&equals;"s1"><strong>Author’s Note&colon;<&sol;strong> I don’t have much to say about this other than&comma; &&num;8216&semi;Wow&period;&&num;8217&semi; This definitely isn’t what Francis Fukuyama meant when he wrote <i>The End of History&&num;8230&semi; <&sol;i><&sol;span><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><strong>Editor&&num;8217&semi;s Note&colon;<&sol;strong> The stupidity of Democrats in even allowing this kind of rhetoric in their party is astounding&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;
