Carl's Junior Responds to Minimum Wage Hike – Hire Robots Instead

<p>After publicly announcing his idea to automate restaurants&comma; Carl&rsquo&semi;s Jr&period; and Hardee&rsquo&semi;s CEO Andy Puzder has been the target of criticism from people all over the country&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&ldquo&semi;I want to try it&comma;&rdquo&semi; Puzder told Business Insider&comma; referring to automated restaurants&period; Puzder said he is currently looking into something &ldquo&semi;where you order on a kiosk&comma; you pay with a credit or debit card&comma; your order pops up&comma; and you never see a person&period;&rdquo&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Although many Americans are quick to call Puzder heartless and blame him for the inevitable loss of many jobs&comma; in reality&comma; Puzder is just reacting to the minimum wage hike&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&ldquo&semi;With government driving up the cost of labor&comma; it&rsquo&semi;s driving down the number of jobs&comma;&rdquo&semi; he said&period; &ldquo&semi;You&rsquo&semi;re going to see automation not just in airports and grocery stores&comma; but in restaurants&period;&rdquo&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>This is the point that many Republicans have tried to make over and over again&period; No one will pay an employee &dollar;15 an hour to do a job that is not worth that amount&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>In fact&comma; IBD&rsquo&semi;s Jed Graham looked at six big U&period;S&period; cities that have raised the minimum wage and found a decrease in the number of jobs available to workers&period; &ldquo&semi;Wherever cities implemented big minimum-wage hikes to &dollar;10 an hour or more last year&comma; the latest data through December show that job creation downshifted to the slowest pace in at least five years&comma;&rdquo&semi; Graham wrote&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Seattle&comma; one of the cities that has seen the highest minimum wage hikes&comma; lost 10&comma;000 jobs between September and November of 2014 alone&period; The numbers don&rsquo&semi;t lie&period; Puzder is not an evil villain&comma; he is a businessman responding to the hand that has been dealt to him&comma; and many other businesses across the country&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><strong>Editor&&num;8217&semi;s note&colon;<&sol;strong> &nbsp&semi;This is no longer in the realm of science fiction&comma; automation is replacing human beings because of stupid utopian liberal policies&period; Its not the first time in history this has happened&comma; factory owners over the last few decades have invested in robotics in response to higher wages demanded by unions&period; &nbsp&semi;Its like throwing workers into the dustbin&&num;8230&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;
