When I heard about the Chinese nationals working for Facebook’s censoring department, some of the site’s recent decisions started to make sense.

According to a Facebook insider who spoke with New York Post journalist Sohrab Ahmari, there are a number of Chinese nationals working on social media censorship for Facebook. “At some point, they [the bosses] thought, ‘Hey, we’re going to get them H-1B visas so they can do this work.’”

It makes sense. The Chinese government operates the most effective censorship projects in the world, so where better to find employees to help censor content on Facebook?

These individuals work for Facebook’s Seattle-based ‘Hate-Speech Engineering Team.’ Several members of the team allegedly earned their master’s degrees in Chinese universities and at least one member of the team formerly worked for Huawei, the Chinese tech giant sanctioned by the Trump Administration. Two other members confirmed they were Chinese nationals but did not elaborate.

The Hate-Speech Engineering Team is responsible for teaching Facebook how to prioritize information so that certain content appears at the top of your newsfeed and other content “shows up dead-last,” explains the insider.

“They take what Sohrab sees, and then they throw the newsfeed list into a machine-learning algorithm and neural networks that determine the ranking of the items,” continued the insider. “What they don’t do is ban a specific pro-Trump hashtag.” Instead, “content that is a little too conservative, they will down-rank. You can’t tell it’s censored.”

The Hate-Speech Engineering Team is no doubt responsible for “down-ranking” the explosive article about Hunter Biden published by the Post earlier this month (read more here) so that fewer people would read it.

“While I will intentionally not link to the New York Post, I want to be clear that this story is eligible to be fact-checked by Facebook’s third-party fact-checking partners,” said Facebook spokesperson Andy Stone. “In the meantime, we are reducing its distribution on our platform.

Ahmari himself was blocked from his official Twitter account after sharing the story. “This is a Big Tech information coup. This is digital war,” said Ahmari. “I, an editor at the New York Post, one of the nation’s largest papers by circulation, can’t post one of our own stories that details corruption by a major-party presidential candidate, Biden.”

Even more concerning is the possibility that members of the Hate-Speech Engineering Team will return to China and bring their insider knowledge straight to Xi Jinping. “Globalists thought that engaging with China would make that country more open; I fear it’s making us more restrictive,” warns Ahmari.

Facebook responded to Ahmari’s story with the pathetic claim that its Hate-Speech Engineering Team does not have an “outsized influence on our broader policies or tech.”

Author’s Note: Any Chinese national is potentially an operative for the CCP. Given a prime position at Facebook, he or she could manipulate algorithms to interfere with elections or take knowledge back to China to further oppress the Chinese people. The term “hate-speech engineering” is uncomfortably Orwellian.
