Jordan&#8217;s interim staff report from the House Judiciary Committee highlights how the federal government, universities, and social media giants pressured platforms like Facebook and Twitter to label conservative viewpoints as &#8220;misinformation&#8221; while leaving liberal narratives largely untouched.</p>



<p>The report further reveals that the EIP, coordinated by DHS&#8217;s Cybersecurity &; Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) and the State Department&#8217;s Global Engagement Center (GEC), focused its efforts on silencing conservative voices, particularly those of prominent figures like former President Donald Trump, Senator Thom Tillis, and Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene. Not only were influential politicians in the crosshairs, but conservative commentators and everyday Americans of all political affiliations found themselves subjected to suppression.</p>

<p>EIP employed a tactic known as &#8220;switchboarding&#8221; to facilitate the removal of content flagged by state and local officials from social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter. These efforts were allegedly coordinated with DHS&#8217;s CISA, as revealed in emails obtained by the House Judiciary Committee. While CISA maintained that its actions were &#8220;voluntary&#8221; and that it did not have the power to remove content, the implied threat of sharing information with law enforcement or intelligence agencies loomed large.</p>

<p>These revelations bear striking resemblance to previous efforts by the U.S. government to fund media monitors like NewsGuard and GDI. The impact of their rankings on ad agencies has led to the blocking of conservative media from airing advertisements, further stifling their voices.</p>

<p>Stanford University&#8217;s involvement in the EIP raises additional concerns. The Stanford Internet Observatory (SIO), led by Alex Stamos, former Chief Security Officer at Facebook, played a pivotal role in coordinating efforts between local election officials, DHS, and social media platforms. Stamos has testified that CISA&#8217;s coordination with law enforcement agencies posed a potential threat to free speech.</p>
