Biden Working on ‘Vaccine Passports’

Biden Working on ‘Vaccine Passports’

Americans may soon have to present “vaccine passports” in order to travel, attend large events, dine at certain restaurants, or return to work, reports the Washington Post.

A federal initiative is underway to give Americans an easy and safe way to provide proof of vaccination.

“Our role is to help ensure that any solutions in this area should be simple, free, open source, accessible to people both digitally and on paper, and designed from the start to protect people’s privacy,” said Jeff Zients, who leads the initiative. “As we increase the number of people vaccinated, we know some people may have a need to demonstrate that they are vaccinated…The private sector and not-for-profit coalitions are already beginning to work on this.”

Proof of vaccination will most likely be required when boarding international flights. Some already require proof of vaccination for disease like yellow fever.

Airlines support vaccine passports as a way to help revive the travel industry. But they have urged the government to set a national standard to avoid confusion resulting from differing regional rules.

“A chaotic and ineffective vaccine credential approach could hamper our pandemic response by undercutting health safety measures, slowing economic recovery, and undermining public trust and confidence,” warns the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology.

Vaccine passports are already available in New York using the Excelsior Pass, a free app that utilizes QR codes to provide proof of vaccination. New York businesses won’t be required to use Excelsior. But they may have the option to admit more patrons if they do.

“The innovative Excelsior Pass is another tool in our new toolbox to fight the virus while allowing more sectors of the economy to reopen safely and keeping personal information secure,” says New York Governor Andrew Cuomo. “The question of ‘public health or the economy’ has always been a false choice – the answer must be both.”

Critics fear the passports will create a two-tier society where vaccinated individuals have more opportunities than non-vaccinated individuals. Scammers are already selling fake vaccination records on eBay and Craigslist.

Author’s Note: This is the worst kind of totalitarian idea that will further exacerbate the growing wealth gap in America.

Can you imagine being turned away from a restaurant because the vaccine isn’t yet available to your demographic? Or having to get a vaccination just so you can attend your favorite sporting event? Outrageous.

Vaccine passports just another initiative by the liberals to put us under the thumb of big government. The socialist dream. To have everyone on a site where they will be able to gather all information about you to a central location. The end of individualism and individual liberties. No longer a Republic but a socialist state.

You hate the idea of keeping people safe by having a proof of vaccination card, but have no problem requiring universal IDs so they can vote. Because of Republican policies, I can no longer drive over the border to Canada or into Mexico without my passport. Nor can I travel on an airplane without my passport. The Republican governor in my state signed legislation that requires college students get local driver’s license, declare that they’re “domocile” is in the state, and prove that they’re elegible for in-state tuition to be eligible to vote here.

Republicans also have no problem telling a woman she can’t control her own body, once pregnant she has no choice but to have the baby. But tell a Republican they need to get a vaccination for the safety of themselves and everyone around them, and they indignantly compare it to Hitler’s papers. What they don’t compare to Hitler: Trump sending his goons in unmarked military fatigues to beat up on peaceful protestors…or Trump trying to take over the government with his home-grown fascist militia, his very own Bierhalle Putsch… or coming soon, Trump sitting in a villa somewhere deciding whether he goes to jail or blows his brains out (but Trump is too much of a coward for the latter).

My martial arts class won’t allow anyone in without proof of vaccination. They also need proof of insurance, and you have to sign a waiver to say that you understand the risks and won’t sue if you get hurt. It’s for protection of the business, and safety of the customers. The government should be helping with that, not stopping it. Even YOU should be in favor of it – it’s for your protection, protection of your family and friends, your co-workers… Are you so selfish that you don’t see that? So brainwashed by Trump and his Q-Anon supporters? Maybe in two years we won’t need it, but RIGHT NOW we do.
