
<p>President Biden’s threat to the national security AND personal safety comes in three major policy areas – reduced law enforcement, open borders and foreign policy. ; Whether his failure to address crime is incompetence, malfeasance or diminished mental capacity is uncertain. ; In the first of the three-part series, we dealt with reduced law enforcement. ; In this commentary, we take up the porous border.</p>



<p><strong>Open borders</strong></p>



<p>Biden and the Democrats keep telling us that the border is not open. ; It just looks that way. ; The governors and mayors along the border say it is open. ; Those living along the border say it is open. ; The border patrol says it is open. ; And they all see the crime that is the result of millions of migrants illegally crossing the border. ; Americans across the nation see it as the criminals embedded with the refuge-seekers spread their crimes to major cities and small towns.</p>



<p>It is not only the criminal activities. ; Illegal aliens have been responsible for injuries and deaths from auto accidents  ; But of course, the criminals are the worst.</p>



<p>The Trump administration had produced policies to close the borders with a wall and increased border patrol enforcement – and by supporting the activities of Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE) in tracking down the hardened criminals who regularly breach our border with criminal intent and tons of illicit drugs. ; He took special aim at the vicious MS-13 gang.</p>



<p>So, what are Biden’s and the Democratic Party’s policies? ; First was to immediately stop construction of the wall – even though there were contracts and paid-for supplies ready to carry on the project. ; There are now tens of millions of dollars worth of wall units laying in fields getting rusty.</p>



<p>Biden paid lip service to discourage the caravans of migrants from coming to the border. ; His Vice President Harris even said that to folks south of the border. ; But even as he made that cover-his-ass statement, Biden imposed policies to encourage the immigrants to march north.</p>



<p>Biden issued an order to end Trump’s agreement with Mexico that kept the migrants camping out south of the border until their claims of asylum could be processed – and they could be properly vetted. ; Fortunately, the Federal courts struck down Biden’s order and the Trump program was reinstated.</p>



<p>Rather than discouraging the illegal border crossing, Biden has restricted the activities of the Border Patrol and curtailed ICE raids and arrests. ; He further encouraged migrants to come to the border by implementing a policy through which those with children – parents or drug cartellians serving as coyotes &#8212; would be allowed to stay. ; Democrat mayors and governors have ordered the local sheriff departments to not cooperate with ICE.</p>



<p>Democrats have been quick to provide a range of benefits to illegal aliens – welfare, free education for the children, work permits and even the right to vote in some communities. ; One of the mainstays of Democrat urban policy is the sanctuary movement. ; They provide sanctuary to illegal aliens in defiance of federal laws.</p>



<p>It is noteworthy that the Biden/Democrat policy is to disallow local sheriffs along the border from arresting illegal border crossers – even those with criminal records – because protecting the border is the exclusive job of the federal government. ; At the same time, Democrats allow their leftwing mayors to create sanctuary programs in defiance of federal laws.</p>



<p>The danger to the public from Biden’s open borders policies is not only a matter of crime. ; Illegal border crossers arrive in America unvetted for Covid – or any number of contagious illnesses. ; They arrive unvaccinated and unmasked. ; There is no social distancing as they congregate on either side of the border. ; They are moved into the mainland where they can – and have &#8211;spread disease.</p>



<p>And the victimization is not only American citizens who lose loved ones and property – or are assaulted or raped – by illegal migrants. ; In encouraging the migration, Biden &; Co. are subjecting those hoping to set down stakes in America to a harsh journey with sickness and crime. ; There is virtually no reporting on the assaults, deaths and rapes – often involving children &#8212; that occur along the modern-day Train of Tears. ; Nor do the news outlets report the number of deaths among migrants – including murder.</p>



<p>Because Biden and the Democrats refuse to enforce the federal laws regarding immigration, migrant and refugee applications, America is less safe. ; Again, Biden is responsible for an untold number of hardships, injuries, assaults and deaths because of his policies. ; He is again violating his constitutional oath to keep America safe from all enemies, foreign and domestic. The criminals who embed in the caravans are enemies of the state.</p>



<p>Perhaps, Biden and the Democrats do not consider the drug cartellians and other criminals as enemies of the state. ; After all, it is the folks in the communities that are paying the price for his policies. ; Those folks are physically and psychologically far from Biden’s privileged and insulated establishment environment in Washington. ; ;</p>



<p>In Part Three, we will deal with the third area in which Biden and the Democrats are failing in their primary duty – to protect the American people.</p>
