Ben Carson Taken Seriously – Attacks from All Around
Soft-spoken Ben Carson has been making more headlines than Donald Trump lately – but this isn’t necessarily good news for the former neurosurgeon and second-place Republican candidate. However, the fact that Carson’s enemies are spending so much energy attacking him shows just how serious a contender he has become for the Republican nomination.
Take for example an article published yesterday by mens’ fashion magazine GQ. The story, titled “F*ck Ben Carson,” attacks the GOP candidate for his suggestion that in mass shooting situations, it’s better to fight back than to stand there are get shot.
Speaking earlier this week in regards to the recent mass shooting at an Oregon college, Carson said, “Not only would I probably not cooperate with him, I would not just stand there and let him shoot me. I would say, ‘Hey, guys, everybody attack him. He may shoot me, but he can’t get us all.’”
The leftwing magazine cited the above quote, apparently furious with Carson for his logical belief that taking guns away from everyone only gives more power to the bad guys. Carson concluded his talk with the powerful statement: “I never say a body with bullet holes that was more devastating than taking the right to arm ourselves away.”
Ever since the start of his campaign, Carson’s qualifications have come into question because he has never before held political office. But now the doctor is even receiving criticism from members of his own party. This Thursday on “Morning Joe,” MSNBC host Joe Scarborough attacked Carson’s candidacy, saying, “I’m not being an elitist when I say Ben Carson is not qualified to be president of the United States.” This comment followed a tirade about how “we’re going down a dangerous path…if we republicans or Democrats start electing people because they’re nice Christian folk.”
The doctor can add this silly insult to his growing list, right beneath CAIR’s failed attempt at kicking him out of the election. You know, I won’t be surprised if the doctor remains on top. He is, after all, the one in the position of power. And he wouldn’t be receiving so much flack if the opposition didn’t take him seriously.
Carson told Fox News just what he thought about all these attacks. And if I didn’t know any better, I would have attributed his words to Trump: “I think people know exactly what I’m saying. And they know exactly what the media is trying to do. And I think they’re smarter than that; they’re not going to be manipulated. So I’m not going to change and become a vanilla envelope that they can accept. They’re never going to accept me because I don’t believe in political correctness so I can twist myself in pretzels trying to fit into their silly little box or I can be who I am.”
