I will save you a trip to Google. Ares is the Greek god of war. I include him – along with nuclear war and the start of World War III because they are all fictional narratives.

Those on the left – and especially President Biden – have operated with an unrealistic fear of Putin’s nuclear weapons. That fear prevented Biden from taking the actions necessary to drive Russian forces completely out of Ukraine. The bully has been winning … tragically.

I see no circumstance in which Putin would deploy nuclear weapons – and certainly not the big stuff. He knows that any use of nuclear weapons – even tactical field weapons – would be the end of his career – and maybe his existence. I have expressed that opinion several times in past commentaries. That opinion has held even as Russia’s fortunes have seriously declined.

I have also previously debunked the World War III scenarios put forth by the faint of heart. By definition a world war requires the military engagement of major powers on both sides – supported by alliances with less powerful nations. In terms of the Ukraine War, who are the potential allies ready to commit troops on behalf of Russia. Oh yeah! North Korea – a piddling 20,000 soldiers. The Ukrainians kill more than that every month. Even such Russian allies as Belarus are staying out of Ukraine. And you do not see Chinese soldiers in Ukraine.

Now we have the escalation in Iran. And what allies are sending in troops? Who is even supporting Iran? Not Russia. They cannot. Not China. The Middle Kingdom is traditionally averse to sending troops beyond its borders. The did not in Korea War. They did not in Vietnam. They did not in Ukraine. And they are not in the Iran conflict. Even the Cubans, who export some military personnel (think Venezuela) are not getting involved.

You just cannot have a world war if the nations of the world do not pile on. Iran has literally no nation actively on its side. They have the remnants of the major terrorist groups that it once financed – and even those have been weakened.

The evergreen peaceniks and Little Boy Who Cried Wolf-types can calm down. We are not heading into a nuclear conflict between those nations with atomic weapons. Mutual Assured Destruction (MAD) has been a successful deterrent for more than 80 years – and it still is.

We are not heading into World War IIl. The Chicken Littles on the loony left are as wrong in today’s world as the fearful feathered fowl was in the children’s book.

America can have a much more meaningful and intelligent conversation is we set aside distracting nonsense emanating from the radical left.

So, there ‘tis.

Ares … Nuclear Conflict … World War III … and Other Myths
