As the nation holds its breath in anticipation of the November 3rd election, New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D) is trying to decide if she should freeze her eggs.

“I’m sitting here, I’m like, do I freeze my eggs? Can I afford to do that?” said AOC during an interview with Vanity Fair. “My orthodontist was telling me about how she is doing IVF, and I’m, like, asking her what her experience is like.”

AOC’s out-of-place comments tie in to her previous efforts to bring discussions about family planning into the public sphere – something that is “important” because “women, we have to make these choices that men simply don’t have to make.”

When asked if she wants children in the future, AOC said she ‘doesn’t think too much about the future.’

Such disregard for the future is more than a little concerning coming from a lawmaker, especially one who is doing her best to push the Democratic Party to the left, including packing the Supreme Court.

“Expand the court,” AOC tweeted on October 26th following the confirmation of Amy Coney Barrett. “Republicans do this because they don’t believe Dems have the stones to play hardball like they do. And for a long time they’ve been correct. But do not let them bully the public into thinking their bulldozing is normal but a response isn’t. There is a legal process for expansion.”

Speaking on CNN’s State of the Union, AOC agreed that it was “her job” to push the Democratic Party to the left.

“My role is consistent in making sure that we push the Democratic Party to have a larger vision for our future. To listen to the needs of the working class; of people who are living paycheck to paycheck; young people; people of color; because I believe that is the base of the Democratic Party…So, is my job to push the Democratic Party? Absolutely. And that has been my job…since I was elected.”

Speaking of young people, AOC told CNN that today’s youth have a “disciplined, activist mindset,” when it comes to voting. “They are not here with the intent of voting for their favorite person or voting for someone that they think is perfect…young people are so clear on their stances on many political issues that they believe they want to vote for a president that is at least going to be receptive to their advocacy, activism, and protest.”

To encourage these “disciplined” people to vote, AOC went on Twitch (a live-streaming platform) last week and played a video game called “Among Us” with a handful of well-known Internet personalities.
