<p>It seems the Dems still can&rsquo;t get over the fact that Hillary lost. ;</p>
<p>&ldquo;For fear that Donald Trump will violate democratic norms, liberals want to have the Electoral College throw out the results of a presidential election and impose their choice on the nation for the first time in history,&rdquo; writes <em>National Review&rsquo;s</em> Rich Lowry.  ;</p>
<p>Nearly 127 million people voted in last month&rsquo;s election, and Hillary is estimated to have won the popular vote by 2.5 million votes. But ;the Electoral College &ndash; according to its own rules and despite some urging not to vote for him &ndash; elected Donald Trump.</p>
<p>This fact rankled Democratic voters, many of whom urged electors to change their mind. ;</p>
<p><strong>Let&rsquo;s take a look at how this unique process works:</strong></p>
<p>The Electoral College is made up of 538 members, each with a single vote to cast in presidential elections. The number of representatives a state gets is equal to that state&rsquo;s number of congressional representatives. ;</p>
<p>For example: Indiana has 9 House members and 2 US senators, which equals 11 electors.  ;</p>
<p>Of DC and the 50 states, only 30 require electors to vote for their party&rsquo;s designated candidate. For the remaining 21, the choice is up to the elector. Those who vote in opposition to their party have been deemed &ldquo;faithless electors.&rdquo;  ;</p>
<p>Since the Electoral College&rsquo;s inception in 1789, there have been only 157 instances in which an elector did not vote for his or her party&rsquo;s designated candidate. Last month, Trump came out on top with 306 electoral votes VS Hillary&rsquo;s 232. He also won the majority of statewide contests. ;</p>
<p><strong>Democratic Hypocrisy ;</strong></p>
<p>By law, electors have the power to act as a final check on a &ldquo;presidential tyrant,&rdquo; writes Lowry. This has never happened, and was unlikely to happen this year.  ;</p>
<p>&ldquo;In theory, 37 electors could flip against Trump on Dec. 19th, deny him the 270 electoral votes needed to win and precipitate one of the gravest constitutional crises in the history of the republic,&rdquo; writes Lowry. ;</p>
<p>&ldquo;More than anything else, the calls for an Electoral College coup expose a standardless will to power of a Left that professes to value democratic procedure.&rdquo;</p>
<p>The electoral vote became official today (Dec. 20th), with Trump scoring 304 total electoral votes. He will be sworn in as America&rsquo;s 45th president on January 20th.</p>
<p>&ldquo;This historic election is now officially over and I look forward to President-elect Trump taking the oath of office in January,&rdquo; said RNC co-chair Sharon Day. ;</p>
<p>&ldquo;Our unified Republican government will hit the ground running next year so we can deliver real change and make America great again. For the good of the country, Democrats must stop their cynical attempts to undermine the legitimacy of this election, which Donald Trump won decisively in the Electoral College with more votes than any republican since 1988.&rdquo; ;</p>
<p>Of course they were spectacularly unsuccessful &#8211; ;even thought they were successul in convincing two electors to swith and vote against Trump, 4 electors slated to vote for Hillary defected and voted for Trump!</p>
