
<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Did you know that America ranks 3rd in the world for murder rate but drops all the way down to 189th (out of 193) if you remove data from five of the nation’s largest Democrat-run cities?</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">As reported by <em>Law Enforcement Today</em>, gun violence in Detroit, Chicago, Washington, DC, St. Louis, and New Orleans is a major contributor towards the nation’s murder rate. <em>Ironic that all of these cities are Democratic strongholds and as such advocate for strict gun control laws. Violence in these cities also contributes to America&#8217;s ranking as the 128th safest country in the world.</em></p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Murder rate per 100,000 residents according to the most recent data:</strong></p>



<ul class="wp-block-list"><li>Detroit, MI: 39.7</li><li>Chicago, IL: 24</li><li>Washington, DC: 17</li><li>St. Louis, MO: 69.4</li><li>New Orleans, LA: 40.6</li></ul>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Baltimore, MD and Cleveland, OH also neared the top of the list with rates of 51.1 and 33. Cities that saw the largest increase in murder rate from 2019 to 2020 include: Louisville, KY (78%), Seattle, WA (74.1%), Minneapolis, MN (72%), New Orleans, LA (62%), and Atlanta, GA (58%) &#8211; <strong>of course these are all cities governed by Dumb-o-crats. ;</strong></p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">As we have argued many times in the past, gun control measures don&#8217;t work because the bad guys will always have weapons. Imposing strict gun control policies on a population gives criminals an edge over the law-abiding citizens who are seeking only to protect themselves and their families. </p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">A great example is San Francisco, CA, which continues to struggle with increasing violence despite having some of the strictest gun control laws in the nation. As I wrote last week, the city is even planning to set up “safe injection sites” despite a veto from California Governor Gavin Newsom (D) to help drug addicts use illicit substances in a safe place.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Other Democratic trends that exacerbate crime include:</strong></p>



<ul class="wp-block-list"><li>Slashing police budgets ;</li><li>The failure to to prosecute low-level crime</li><li>The refusal to hold arrested individuals in jail</li><li>Sanctuary city policies ;</li></ul>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Chicago District Attorney Kim Foxx (supported by George Soros during her 2020 campaign) has drawn considerable criticism for &#8216;going easy&#8217; on criminals despite an increase in violent crime. One of her top prosecutors, James Murphy III, resigned abruptly in July stating he could no longer work for an administration he didn’t respect.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Murphy, who worked as an Assistant State’s Attorney for more than 20 years, wrote in his resignation letter that he had “zero confidence” in the current administration’s leadership and described Foxx’s mission statements as a PR stunt.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">“How many mass shootings do their have to be before something is done?” wrote Murphy. “This administration is more concerned with political narratives and agendas than than with victims and prosecuting violence crime. That is why I can’t stay any longer.”</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">As noted by <em>Law Enforcement Today</em> contributor Jim Patrick, Democratic policies are not the only problem here. ;Young men living in the most violent regions of big cities are more likely than not to lack a father figure and in some cases, the only real male influence they have growing up is a member of a gang.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Complicating matters even further is the mainstream media’s absolute refusal to acknowledge violence when it is perpetrated by radical leftists (such as Antifa or Black Lives Matter) or someone belonging to a favored demographic. ;Add COVID-19 and skyrocketing inflation to the mix and you get the explosion in crime we are seeing today. ;</p>
