<p>In the wake of the October 1st shooting at an Oregon community college where 13 people were killed including the gunman, blame is being assigned all around, to NRA and Republicans.  ;Gun control is back to the forefront.</p>
<p>President Obama was quick to comment, anxious to change the subject after being humiliated by Putin at the U.N and in the press. After a few kinds words about the victims he immediately politicized the issue, saying &#8220;thought and prayers are not enough&#8221; and &#8220;we are the only advanced country on earth that sees these kinds of mass shooting every few months.&#8221; ;</p>
<p>Senator Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut is planning to introduced new gun control measures.</p>
<p>A variety of celebrities, including Alyssa Milano, Montel Williams and others have come out to urge for gun control.</p>
<p><strong>Author&#8217;s note:</strong> The Oregon shootings are truly a tragedy, and should be mourned, examined and contemplated. The shooter is dead.  ;But so many people are under the impression that guns are the root cause and not just a tool. ;</p>
<p>Back in my intel community days, one of our training courses was euphemistically called &#8220;defensive driving.&#8221; This was basically how to escape from a terrorist blockade or kidnapping attempt. We were told a car is much more deadly than a gun, if used properly. We learned exactly what that meant, two tons of metal slamming into things at the touch of the accelerator. Suppose the &#8220;fashion&#8221; for mass murder was to drive through the streets of New York City and run people over on the sidewalk? (Doesn&#8217;t the video &#8220;Grand Theft Auto&#8221; have exactly that scenario?). This would easily much more deadly. Do you ban cars?</p>
<p>Mass killings are a sign of mental illness. But even mental illness is influenced by the media and morality as taught by parents, teachers and media growing up. You only need restrictions on free choice when morality erodes.  ;See my point?</p>
