Kamala’s Dad Is Angry She Said ‘Marijuana’ and ‘Jamaica’ in the Same Sentence

Kamala’s Dad Is Angry She Said ‘Marijuana’ and ‘Jamaica’ in the Same Sentence

It’s the strangest story yet at this early stage of the election cycle, and unless Bernie Sanders is caught on camera taking a suitcase of crystal meth from Daniel Ortega, this one is going to be hard to beat. He publicly berated his daughter, a presidential contender, for admitting to smoking weed in the past, and using Jamaican heritage as an “excuse.”

Unlike a possible BernieGate (wouldn’t that be great?), this story doesn’t look like it can hurt Kamala all that much, though, not in the “traditional” sense anyway, if we really look at it and depending on the interpretation we each choose to adopt. I mean, let’s be honest about it.

Isn’t pot-smoking a stereotype that Jamaica is proud of, an integral part of a particular religion/lifestyle there, and results in incredible tourism dollars as well? (Hell, even conservative Republicans aren’t outraged or disgusted by that. A buck’s a buck.)

As a proud conservative myself, I feel no guilt in taking pleasure at the downfall of my progressive foes. (Better they fall now before they have success at the ballot box and make us all fall later.) During her interview on the New York Breakfast Club radio program, she answered a question about the evil weed, saying that of course she had smoked in the past, because for God’s sake, half of her family is from Jamaica!

She then went on to crack a joke that she thought none of us had ever heard before, that unlike Clinton, she did inhale. (Kamala, please get a new joke writer.)

Dad was pretty pissed about her painting Jamaica with that same globally accepted pot-smoking stereotypical brush, making a statement to Jamaica Global Outline which read:

‘My dear departed grandmothers (whose extraordinary legacy I described in a recent essay on this website), as well as my deceased parents, must be turning in their grave right now to see their family’s name, reputation and proud Jamaican identity being connected, in any way, jokingly or not, with the fraudulent stereotype of a pot-smoking joy seeker and in the pursuit of identity politics.”

Wow! It’s too bad Hitler didn’t have a dad who disagreed with his politics so much.

Donald Harris might have gone just a little bit overboard here, a stinging rebuke to his daughter and by inference her politics, but who am I to say? He’s a long-time Stanford University economics professor, and criticize as you will economists and their theories in general, he’s obviously no dummy. I’m curious though what kind of economic systems he espouses in his teachings.

Did he teach Kamala everything he knows about socialism from the wrong side of the argument? Hard to say, since he and Kamala’s mom, a former cancer researcher, divorced when she was just seven. But maybe he read her bedtime stories about Karl Marx. Or maybe it’s the opposite, and he’s a staunch free market Capitalist.

So was Donald’s rant against his offspring based solely on her negative portrayal of Jamaica, his home country (not her home country, remember that), or did he think, “Enough’s enough and I can’t stand it no more!” based on her progressive politics that he’s forced by blood to be associated with?

Is this a story about Jamaica’s reputation, or about Kamala’s plan for America, which he thinks will kill us?

It’s not as if we’re going to know the truth about this any time soon, because we can’t expect him to go public with 100% support for her views. (He’s no Barbara Bush.) And I doubt we’re going to see him publicly refute her vision for America either, because she’s still daddy’s little girl, but you never know!

It’s leaning towards he can’t stand all of her politics, based on his last sentence. It’s easy to miss, because it was one hell of a rant, but yeah.

He can’t stand her political positions.
