Ilhan Omar’s Anti-Semitism Epitomizes Longstanding DNC Conflict of Interests

Anti-Semitism is alive and well in the United States.

While the common narrative is that this particular brand of bigotry only manifests itself in the form of grizzled overweight white bumpkins waving the stars and bars to their local death metal band, the reality is that bigotry doesn’t align itself on jaded illusory political boundaries. After all, just look at Democrat Rep. Ilhan Omar.

“In an unprecedented rebuke under the new Congress, House Democratic leaders on Monday roundly condemned Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., for statements about supporters of Israel that were widely viewed as anti-Semitic and called on her to apologize.

The statement issued by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the rest of the Democratic leadership team followed the latest in a string of controversial comments from the freshman lawmaker — as well as pressure from Republican leaders to speak out.

Omar, who became the first Somali-American woman elected to Congress in November, touched off the controversy when she responded to a tweet by journalist Glenn Greenwald criticizing House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., for urging action against Omar and Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., for allegedly anti-Semitic remarks made earlier.”

Greenwald accused McCarthy of targeting Omar and Tlaib for their public criticisms of Israel, to which Omar responded, “It’s all about the Benjamins, baby,” in a homage to the genocide inducing delusion of ‘a Jewish world order’ and then doubled down claiming politicians who supported Israel did so because they were being funded by AIPAC, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee.

Even worse the Representative for whatever reason thought it a good idea – or perhaps simply funny – to repost comments referring to Jews as ‘hooked-nose.’

Rep. Omar, an individual with a record of problematic Islamic zealotry causing her PR problems, initially was defiant in the face of accusations of prejudice (an apparently common tactic for Democrat politicians as of late). But with her own party leadership finally forced to chastise her or risk consequences from Jewish populations she’s since issued a formal ‘apology’ in which she both “unequivocally apologized” and refused to retract her statements…

While it is certainly possible to criticize Israel without invoking anti-Semitism – after all I, a Jew, do all the time – it becomes less of a possibility when the person doing so has a record of anti-Semitism like Rep. Omar to the point her own party has had to jerk on the leash – slightly.

Much more concerning however is when people who hold groups of people in lesser regard are given power; and from Representative Omar’s Jew-bashing to the undeniably racist hijinks and Klan idolatry of apparently every blue politician in Virginia, Democrats have been alarmingly complacent with giving those people power and letting them keep it even when the evidence of their bigotry goes public.

Just look at the people supporting them. People like David Duke. The same David Duke who Democrats endlessly pointed to as a top Trump supporter in attempts to prove the Grandpa and father of devout Jews was somehow pro-Klan.

‘It’s Okay to be an Anti-Semite if You’re a Progressive One’

While loud and proud bigots like Duke are commonly illuminated and consequentially ostracized by both sides of the aisle, similarly loud and proud bigots that also happen to be otherwise progressive political elites like Omar and fellow representative Rashida Tlaib are not only welcomed to the Democrat fold, they lead it.

The proof is in the pudding. Despite her ‘strongly worded letter’ decrying Omar’s actions Speaker Pelosi has seen fit to levy exactly zero actual consequences against the representative even as Jews across the nation begin to call for more than ‘sorry.’

For example, despite a clear inability to approach foreign policy without prejudice against other religions nobody has called for her resignation. In fact, Omar remains on the House Foreign Affairs Committee courtesy of the same Democratic leadership that claims her antisemitism to be unacceptable.

This has always been a grim reality on the underside of progressive politics. Extremely intolerant people have been given huge amounts of power based on their general adherence to leftist principles; and that intolerance has all too often manifested as anti-Semitism.

I suppose perhaps the ‘Jewish vote’ simply isn’t big enough for the Democrats to really care…

Editor’s note: I’m wondering how this will manifest as a campaign issue in 2020. Will the Jewish community finally come to understand that the Democrat Party does not share their values? And that the Democrat Party will NOT stand up for them in the face of Muslim hatred?
