George Soros Funds Women's Protests

George Soros Funds Women's Protests

Hundreds of thousands of people gathered in Washington to take part in the Women’s March on January 21st – the day after President Trump’s inauguration.

The event, which bills itself as a “grassroots” movement, has since come under fire for pushing a left-wing agenda that goes far beyond women’s rights.

Enter liberal billionaire investor George Soros.

“There have been many false reports about George Soros and the Open Society Foundations funding protests in the wake of the US presidential elections,” said a Soros spokeswoman. “There is no truth to these reports.”

According to a recent report published by the Media Research Center (MRC), however, Soros has funneled nearly $250 million into Women’s March partners in recent years. Soros also contributed to “Day Without a Woman” – a worldwide strike that encourages women to stay home from work on International Women’s Day.

Over 400 organizations are listed as “partners” on the Women’s March website. Several of these, like MoveOn.org and AFL-CIO, have deep ties to the Democratic Party.

Women’s March partners that received funding from Soros and his organizations include the ACLU ($37 million), Planned Parenthood, Human Rights Watch ($32 million), and MoveOn.org.

Former WSJ reporter Asra Nomani argues that the Women’s March wasn’t about women’s rights, it was “a march for women who are anti-Trump.”

“As someone who voted for Trump, I don’t feel welcome, nor do many other women who reject the liberal identity-politics that is the core underpinnings of the march,” writes Nomani. “So far, making white women feel unwelcome, nixing women who oppose abortion, and hijacking the agenda.”

Pro-life women in particular are frustrated with the Women’s March for advertising “safe, legal, affordable abortion” as a key principle of the event.

“While Planned Parenthood partnered with and sponsored the Women’s March, at least two pro-life groups were removed from the march’s ‘partners’ page,” reads the MRC report.

George Soros gave Planned Parenthood over $1 million to help it overcome the “selling fetuses for money” scandal last year. He has donated over $20 million to the abortion provider since 2000.
