The Green President Fails Again

President Obama has made it a point to emphasize our environment and its dwindling resources during his presidency. While solar and other forms of clean energy are great alternatives to traditional power sources, Obama has once again proven that he is too incompetent to get the job done.

The Ivanpah solar plant in California represents yet another failure of President Obama’s solar power initiative. Turns out, the federally-backed $2.2 billion project is not producing the amount of electricity it is contractually required to send to PG&E Corp. Ivanpah may be forced to shut down if it doesn’t receive a considerable break this month from state regulators.

The Ivanpah Solar Electric Generating System, dubbed the “world’s largest outdoor bird fryer” by Powerline Blog, uses more than 150,000 mirrors to reflect sunlight to several 450’ towers topped with boilers that create steam which is used to generate electricity.

The innovative solar-thermal project has outraged environmentalists with its habit of killing thousands of local birds – many of which die by incineration. And it hasn’t even succeeded in producing the expected amount of power.

This newest failure adds to the dozens of green programs, including the infamous Solyndra stimulus project, that have totaled nearly $30 billion in taxpayer support. An audit conducted during the spring of 2015 showed that the Energy Department had defaulted on nearly $1 billion in loans.
