Ivana Trump denies accusing Donald Trump of rape

Recent provocations about very old quotations by the press enraged Trump aide Michael Cohen, who said, “You cannot rape your spouse.”  This caused an uproar in the press gaining considerable press in mainstream media outlets.  Donald Trump responded to this saying “He’s speaking for himself. He’s not speaking for me, obviously, but I did tell him I disagreed with him.”  Donald Trump declined to fire Cohen.

Just to put this to bed, here is the statement from Ivana Trump: “I have recently read some comments attributed to me from nearly 30 years ago at a time of very high tension during my divorce from Donald. The story is totally without merit. Donald and I are the best of friends and together have raised three children that we love and are very proud of. I have nothing but fondness for Donald and wish him the best of luck on his campaign. Incidentally, I think he would make an incredible president.”

Author’s note:  This was an interview conducted by the Daily Beast, who I am now realizing is the lowest of the low in news services.  They brought up an issue almost 30 years old, took it out of context and managed to get a Trump aide upset about it, then published the outburst.

This is tabloid stuff and doesn’t deserve the covereage on CNN and Fox it has received over the last 24 hours.   It has already gotten more than the story about Planned Parenthood harvesting human body parts, which is, in my opinion, the most impactful story on American culture of the year.  The shame of it is the Daily Beast got the exposure they wanted.
