Tlaib Censured for Antisemitic Remarks in Support of Hamas!

In a rare move, House lawmakers have censured Rep. Rashida Tlaib, the sole Palestinian American in Congress, over her remarks and actions in response to the Israel-Hamas war.

The censure resolution, authored by Rep. Rich McCormick, R-Ga., passed 234 to 188, with 22 of her fellow Democrats voting for it and four Republicans opposing the measure. A censure vote only requires a simple majority to pass.

The resolution censures Tlaib, D-Mich., for “promoting false narratives regarding the October 7, 2023, Hamas attack on Israel and for calling for the “destruction of the state of Israel.”

The punishment, while largely symbolic, was a formal public rebuke of her most recent anti-Israel comments made in the wake of the Jewish nation’s war against terror group Hamas.

“If this is not worthy of censure, what is? When you can call for the annihilation of a country and its people, if that’s not worthy of a censure, what is?” McCormick said on the House floor Tuesday.

Tlaib, who has made similar antisemitic and anti-Israel comments in the past, this time has come under bipartisan criticism after sharing a video on social platform X that included the phrase “From the river to the sea,” a pro-Palestinian liberation slogan.

Her critics have pointed out that the rallying cry implicitly calls for the destruction of Israel as a state. Hamas has also co-opted the phrase.

“It is fundamentally a call for a Palestinian state extending from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea, territory that includes the State of Israel, which would mean the dismantling of the Jewish state,” the Anti-Defamation League’s website says. “It is an antisemitic charge denying the Jewish right to self-determination, including through the removal of Jews from their ancestral homeland.”

Tlaib has remained unrepentant over her use of the phrase.

“It is important to separate people and governments,” she said on the House floor earlier in the day. “The idea that criticizing the Israeli government is antisemitic sets a dangerous precedent.”

The belief the hair should be covered comes from the Old Testament, not Mohammed. That is why nuns cover their hair.

Remove her citizenship. Send her to Iran.

I agree. Remove her citizenship and send her to Iran. She is a traitor to the United States and she is full of hate. America does not need antisemitic, hate filled people.

The word “anti-Semitic” has to be capitalized since it is a proper noun. It comes from Shem, the son of Noah who fathered all Arabs, and does not mean just the Jews, but all Arabs.
Genocide should be hated, and Israel clearly is committing deliberate genocide. Just very slowly.

Not at all true, they are trying to kill us all . They hate America just as much , they are taught to kill from birth it’s in the Koran.

In the future I will spell the word correctly. You also failed to use a capital “A”. You spelled the word incorrectly as well. Israel is responding to the violence against them. They did not start this latest attack. A surprise attack by Palestinian group Hamas on Israel – combining gunmen breaching security barriers and a barrage of rockets fired from Gaza – was launched at dawn during the Jewish holiday of Simchat Torah. The Arabs have been attacking Israel from the time Israel was established as an independent state in 1948. They harbor hatred in their hearts and want to eliminate the Jewish people. Israel has a right to defend itself against these unprovoked attacks. Israel only occupies 1.7% of the land area of these 4 Arab states: Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria. Why won’t the Arab states accept the right of Israel to exist is the question that should be asked.

Tlaib is correct. The US illegally created Israel by giving a bunch of illegal immigrants all our surplus WWII weapons, to use against the unarmed Arab natives. First the Zionists blew up the King David Hotel to get rid of the British peacekeepers, and then gunned down the UN moderator Folke Bernadotte, so the UN could not stop them. Then they proceeded to massacre one Arab village after another. The most famous being Deir Yassin, since Albert Einstein happened to be in Jerusalem and witness the survivors being murdered.
Israel is 7 million illegal immigrants taking 85% of Palestine and forcing 13 million Arab natives to live in 15% of their own land.

Wrong ,again . Read the Bible ,when the war was over no one wanted them just like no one wants the palestians. The land of Israel was a waste land that Lebrun a dog would never have wanted to live in. The Jews have
Been in Israel For three thousand years having been murdered and expelled from their homes many times over millennia. What about all the Jews from Arab countries that were driven from their homes with nothing at all. i guess the world has a very short memory when it comes to the Jews . You’re antisemitism is showing .

“In a rare move,” that’s really not so rare anymore, Tlaib is censured. But does anyone know what she actually said? And what do our resident free speech extremists think about that? It boils down to the one statement noted in the story as: “From the river to the sea,” which she says means something else than the rest of the world understands it to mean as about as antisemitic as you can get.

    Great, except…..

While IMO, the House did the right thing, why the mostly partly line vote? Should this not have been black and white? I think most Democrats voted wrong. Just as Republicans voted wrong on Gosar.

It’s pretty much either right or wrong, and IMO, this is clearly wrong. No matter what you meant, it is wrong to say that, at this time, in that place.
