Trump Sues Michael Cohen for $500 Million
Donald Trump is suing his turncoat former “fixer” Michael Cohen for $500 million, alleging his ex-attorney breached his contract.
The lawsuit, filed in a Florida federal court on Wednesday, accuses Cohen of spreading false information about Trump and breaching his contractual obligations to the former president in Cohen’s public statements, published books, podcast series, and other media appearances.
In the suit, Trump’s legal team said that the former president has “no alternative but to seek legal redress” to combat an emboldened Cohen, who they allege has recently ramped up false statements about his former boss.
According to the lawsuit, Cohen revealed confidential information in talking about his prior-attorney-client relationship with Trump during media interviews about the Manhattan District Attorney’s grand jury investigation that led to the former president’s indictment.
“During one such appearance, for example, Defendant discussed that he testified in front of the Manhattan District Attorney’s grand jury, and suggested that Plaintiff was, by virtue of Defendant’s knowledge of confidential information, criminally exposed,” the lawsuit states.
Cohen also violated an employee confidentiality agreement he signed with The Trump Organization when he published his two books that discuss Trump, the lawsuit claims.
“[Mr. Cohen] “chose to capitalize on his confidential relationship with (Trump) to pursue financial gain and repair a reputation shattered by his repeated misrepresentations and deceptive acts, fueled by his animus toward the Plaintiff and his family members,” the lawsuit alleges.
According to the lawsuit, Cohen never asked for permission from Trump to disclose any confidential information that should’ve been protected by that agreement and his attorney-client obligations before publishing the books.
The complaint also alleges that, like his books, Cohen has put out “inflammatory, misleading, or outright false” information in his podcast “Mea Culpa.”
In response, Cohen’s attorney Lanny Davis said, “Mr. Trump is once again using and abusing the judicial system as a form of harassment and intimidation against Michael Cohen.”
Davis’s statement added, “Mr. Cohen will not be deterred and is confident that the suit will fail based on the facts and the law.”
Trump always hurts the ones he loves as long as they ain’t family. His CFO is in jail. Most of his 2016 campaign leaders have been convicted of something. And now his trusted consigliore, turned traitor, is being sued for voiding his confidentiality contract, breaching attorney-client privilege, and telling lies about Trump.
Like most of the Don’s countersuits, Trump is just trying to simultaneously scare Cohen from testifying, although not at a witness tampering level, while tainting the jury pool by portraying Cohen as a lying, thieving rat of the criminal kind.
Like most of Don’s cases, this one will probably wither on the vine. Why?
Because if it proceeds there will be deposition and discovery, and Trump can not afford to go there.

I agree Frank. I think you nailed it! I often wonder if Trump understands the legal process and that in discovery he will have to submit information to prove Cohen wrong, and that info many hurt him more than Cohen. And lets not forget, one person’s traitor is another person’s hero. Cohen went to jail for Trump. Now we see how Trump repays loyalty.
If Cohen violated his contract with Trump,
He should be sued. The ( Scaring as you put it ) should not have any difference if he is Innocent.
You have Democrat’s like Bragg suing Trump over things that are ridiculous and have no shred of Law.
But then in your eyes, Trump is guilty till proven innocent.
Yes if Cohen breeched his contract, he should be sued. ( That is how the law is supposed to work )
It is just hard for the left to see through the Democratic Binoculars.
Last time I checked: 1) Tax evasion is a felony; 2) Manipulating books to cover up a hush payment is a misdemeanor that can be elevated to a felony if the manipulation was done to cover a crime, and paying money to kill stories so as to manipulate voter thoughts towards or against a candidate is an election violation; 3) Rape last I checked is a federal crime and Trump will go on trial for this in September; 4) Mishandling classified documents is a federal crime.
Now specifically to your point, on Bragg, he already has evidence in the form of corporate books and Mr. Cohen who received the payment to give to the publisher of the story. This is not disputed. It is a misdemeanor which is a crime. He is trying to elevate the misdemeanor to a federal offense and is not required by law to state the federal crime behind the rise of status in the indictment. We will have to wait and see how Bragg elevates it.
Thus, your statement, “Democrat’s like Bragg suing Trump over things that are ridiculous and have no shred of Law.” is bullshit. He killed a story that would have possibly changed the minds of voters in 16 states where adultry is on the books as a crime. And in so doing, he may have skewed election results.
