Newsom targets DeSantis in a goofy political ad

Newsom targets DeSantis in a goofy political ad

Perhaps Gavin Newsom has forgotten that he is Governor of California.  Why else would he run a goofy political television ad in Florida attacking the Sunshine State’s Governor Ron DeSantis.  Perhaps that is a sign that Newsom is planning to run for President in 2024 – and he recognizes that DeSantis is a potential rival and Florida is a battleground state.  Then the ad would make some sense.  But Newsom says he is not going to run for President in 2024. (Where have I heard that before?).

I thought that the ad may be designed to get business and people to move to California.  After all, Newsom has been presiding over a state in which the residents and businesses are fleeing faster than deer from one of his state’s iconic forest fires.  But that was not the purpose of the ad, either.

Newsom ran the ad on Independence Day (I prefer that to Fourth of July).  You know …that day when we should all reflect on our unity as Americans. When we should put aside our political differences and celebrate the greatness of America – and the Founder’s for their noble work.  But then again, you cannot expect those on the radical left to exhibit even a nominal level of patriotism.

The Newsom ad picks up on the Democrat Chicken Little theme that the political sky over the American Republic is falling – or about to fall – and it is the fault of Republicans.  The ad is titled: “Freedom is Under Attack.”  Of course, the “freedom” to which he refers is the freedom of the left to have there way on all issues.

Newsom explains his ad by saying that it is necessary to bring his scaremongering message to folks outside of California.  In the ad, he accuses DeSantis of “banning books, making it harder to vote, restricting speech in classrooms, even criminalizing women and doctors.”  Of course, that is nothing more than Newsom’s biased interpretation (political spin) on various laws passed in Florida – laws very popular with the people of Florida.

Newsom invites the people of Florida to “join the fight.”  We can safely assume he means to join the Democratic Party and vote against Republicans in 2022.

If Newsom wants to draw a clear distinction between California’s left-wing political culture and another state, he could have selected any number of states with stricter conservative policies.  So why Florida?  Oh yeah!  This was a pre-emptive attack on DeSantis – a potential presidential candidate in 2024.

In his ad, Newsome describes California as a state that still believes in freedom – “freedom of speech, freedom to choose, freedom from hate and freedom to love.”  (I shall pause to give you an opportunity to regain your composure.)

(Okay now?)  Yes, Newsom wants us to believe that the censorship center of the free world is the protector of free speech.  A culture in which comedians get slapped on stage.  Where conservative speakers are banned from universities.  California is the cultural capital of political correctness.  And as far as book banning, Newsom & Co. are banning one of the most influential books of all time – the Bible.

While I know what Newsom means by “freedom of choice,” but I could not help but apply that to the folks who are choosing to move out of Newsom’s progressive paradise.  That is real freedom of choice.  While he governs over an exodus state, his target for criticism, DeSantis, governs over a state into which Americans from all over the country are moving by the droves.

Tell me that the left is not consumed by hatred.  They hate the National Anthem.  They hate the Flag.  They hate the Pledge of Allegiance.  And they hate all those who do NOT hate the National Anthem, the Flag and the Pledge of Allegiance.

When Newsom referred to California as having a freedom to love, was he harkening back to the free-love movement of an earlier era?  Come on, Governor.  Are you really claiming that California is the only place were people love each other?

DeSantis spokesperson called Newsom’s ad a “”desperate attempt to win back the California refugees who fled the hellhole he created in his state.”  I would add to that response this rhetorical question:  Which of these two state governors barely survived a recall by the people?  Just asking.

Despite his claim to the contrary, methinks Newsom is toying with the idea of running for President in 2024 – and he sees DeSantis as a potential obstacle to his ambitions.  Otherwise, the ad is just … goofy.

I, for one, never get tired of watching Democrats waste money on goofy stuff – and Newsom’s ad is a prime example.

So, there ‘tis.

Newsom is wasting the dumbasscrat’s money

    • Micala

Newsome is a dumbasscrat himself, 100%! I truly agree with the writer of this article – Newsome, like ALL DUMBOCRATS, is thinking about running for President in 2024 — and DiSantis is a MEGA THREAT to lowly, unintelligent and majorly egotistic Newsome!

But it is so true to form that Newsome did that ad. Like most DUMBOCRATS, Newsome thinks everyone likes him!! Ha ha ha ha! What a dunce! The people in Calif barely put up with him and the only reason he won that ReCall Election is because his AUNTIE PELOSI SWUNG SOME VOTES HIS WAY — it was fixed and everyone in Cali knows it but, you guessed it — DUMBOCRAT Newsome! He truly is an idiot, clueless, self centered and spoiled — and Aunt Nancy had a lot to do with his upbringing!

Besides, there IS NO CONTEST BETWEEN NEWSOME AND DISANTIS — DiSantis would win because he has always been about his Florida people’s rights. Newsome has always been about his own self and how he can make his life better — never about Californians!

HOWEVER, there is a third party who can toss Newsome to the wolves while recruiting DiSantis as a running partner — which would make every dumbocrat literally turn inside out and puke! That would be DJT! Something Stupendous is going to happen in 2023-2024 that will literally destroy the democrat party! It will be a great reason to Celebrate as Newsome and the Dems are crying in their beer!! It’s coming….

Pincha , back door accepting , helmet chewing Newsome is worthless and nothing but a DISGRACE !!! It’s amazing that the liberal nitwits in California put up with him !!!

    • Ben

Wow Bob, that’s some vocabulary; are you experienced? I had to look most of that up for an education I really did not want to have. Thanks for that :<(

Newsom is about as gay as young Trump; they both bounced the same lady. Based on your fluency, I would suspect you're more gay than that.

I really don't know why Larry has his knickers so knotted over this. It's pretty obvious they're testing some waters, either for a run or a run against DeSantimonious.

Somebody, who shall remain unnamed, said: “While he (Newsome) governs over an exodus state, his target for criticism, DeSantis, governs over a state into which Americans from all over the country are moving by the droves.”

The population of California in 2021 was 39,237,836, a 0.66% decline from 2020.
The population of California in 2020 was 39,499,738, a 0.16% increase from 2019.
The population of California in 2019 was 39,437,610, a 0% increase from 2018.
The population of California in 2018 was 39,437,463, a 0.25% increase from 2017.

The population of Florida in 2021 was 21,781,128, a 0.98% increase from 2020.
The population of Florida in 2020 was 21,569,932, a 0.36% increase from 2019.
The population of Florida in 2019 was 21,492,056, a 1.12% increase from 2018.
The population of Florida in 2018 was 21,254,926, a 1.32% increase from 2017.

That puts FL at number 7 for growth. And CA joins 16 or 17 states in the loss category at 3rd highest for lost, but only 50% of NY’s loss factor. Exodus, droves? Not sure “exodus” is applicable, they are losing population, cost-not politics, particularly housing cost, is primary reason according to surveys. Florida ranks 7th on the departure conclusion probably due to rising prices there. Or Desanctimonious :>) (just kidding, no one tested that).

After 50 years of rising population, rising housing prices, you had to believe that the California premium would outpace it’s added-value returns on sun, beach, and jobs. But exodus seems hyperbolic, or just more spin.

I am so glad Larry does not generalize and judges each person on their words and actions. Except he seems to do exactly that here on a regular basis. On this short tome about Newsome, he uses that platform to say:

“you cannot expect those on the radical left to exhibit even a nominal level of patriotism.”

“the Democrat Chicken Little theme that the political sky over the American Republic is falling – or about to fall – and it is the fault of Republicans.”

“Tell me that the left is not consumed by hatred. They hate the National Anthem. They hate the Flag. They hate the Pledge of Allegiance. And they hate all those who do NOT hate the National Anthem, the Flag and the Pledge of Allegiance. “

At the same time, he will tell you he listens, is open, and some of his best friends are Democrats. Must be hard living in a land where you harbor such a hatred for 50% of the citizens. We are everywhere Larry, we are not going away.

    • Larry kuhn

If your crowd keeps starting shit and forcing your agenda on people you might go away. We’re tired of the bullshit. And we ain’t going anywhere either.

      • frank stetson

+1 Kuhn —- You ain’t going anywhere. Tis true fer sure.
